Costco pays very well and has great benefits too. It's interesting how Costco can do so much more for their employees yet still be as profitable as their Walmart counterpart, Sam's Club.
Saw Mexican bottled Coke for sale, a case for $.74/bottle but they were the 12 oz bottles. I have a case I exchange in Sonoyta for 50 cents a bottle. But if you're in need of real sugar sweetened Coke (the way it should be), there ya go.

I have been getting that Coke at Costco for months now. I have been throwing away the bottles in recycle. Do you mean I could be returning them to MX? :o

Sub i saw a report on Costco that said the workers biggest complaint with the company is they can't wear shorts year round. Now Walmart employees might have a bit of a different list. Coke in mexico is drinkable but mexican pepsi is the best (but wash your bottles before use)

Did you know UPS drivers couldn't wear shorts until 1994?
Bleecch Pepsi!
I don't know if you can return the 12 oz bottles fatboyharley. You might try going directly to the distributor just outside PP. I've exchanged cases right off a truck before, but the bottles I'm using are 500ml while Costco's would be 325ml.

Wow thanks Bob. I sure hope those nasty Costco's don't come to PP and inflict the same harm they are on Hermasillo and Mexicali residents. I'm sure they wouldn't tailor their selection for the intended market.

The membership fee at Costco eliminates many possible shoppers plus Costco does not tend to carry real low priced items. The quality is always good and the price for that level of quality is also good.
I was a "regular" member for several years, then upgraded to "Executive" membership. We don't use any of the executive services, but because they give you a 2% rebate on all of your purchases and mail you a check for that amount each year, we found that we spent enough there each year to pay for our membership. So in essence, if you shop Costco on a semi-regular basis with an Executive membership, your membership is free. Gas purchases are not included in this.
As far as the quality, we are pretty much a Costco household these days. The cuts and quality of their meats and produce are outstanding. When I go into an Albertson's or Fry's, or god-forbid, a Food City, and look at their meat counters, I'm disgusted at both the terrible cuts and outrageous prices. Basha's and AJ's come close to Costco quality, but you still pay dearly. Kirkland brand paper goods and other household items are also excellent quality. Frankly, I don't mind paying a bit more for quality stuff. Yes, you can buy a cheap-ass roll of paper towels at WalMart, but expect to use that entire roll before you've used 1/2 a Costco roll. Toilet paper is the same way. So the question is - are you really saving any money by buying the cheap-ass stuff in the 1st place?
Same is true with the Tempe Costco I shop. Most of the same faces that opened the store years ago are still there and quite happy. It seems like a decent place to work.
There are a LOT worse things that could happen to Penasco than having a Costco open there!
And oh, I HIGHLY recommend the Kirkland brand Signature Vodka in the tall red bottle! Equal to or better than Grey Goose! (probably made by Grey Goose, since it's a French vodka)

The only thing I buy in Food City is their cooked carnitas at the deli. MMM MMMMM Good! Crispy and salty on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Yummmmmmeeeeeeee!

I am not a Walmart Shopper or supporter either
Yet you 'visited' Walmart locations in not one or two, but FOUR states to 'interview' employees regarding comments posted on this website?

the pound of shrimp deal is really not a bad deal. The price includes delivery.Out in the sticks of Cochise County it would cost me 50 bucks to get to Costco.
The greeter should have claimed a guy that looks like Sub hit him with a can of soda.In fact now that i think about it i might have seen him in the area and for a first Class airfare and some walking around money i might be a witness.

I just toured Tucson, Albuquerque, Dallas and Birmingham Ala. I hit Wallmart at all the locations and interviewed employees and shared some of the comments from this list.
Yeah you might want to think about giving something up. Lets see, that's AZ,NM,TX and Al.....yup FOUR states.
Do yourself a favor Bob. Print the following and take it to your therapist for immediate treatment:
Profile of the Sociopath
This website summarizes some of the common features of descriptions of the behavior of sociopaths.
Glibness and Superficial Charm
Manipulative and Conning
They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims.
Grandiose Sense of Self
Feels entitled to certain things as "their right."
Pathological Lying
Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.
Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.
Shallow Emotions
When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.
Incapacity for Love
Need for Stimulation
Living on the edge. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal. Promiscuity and gambling are common.
Callousness/Lack of Empathy
Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.
Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature
Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others.
Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency
Usually has a history of behavioral and academic difficulties, yet "gets by" by conning others. Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc.
Irresponsibility/Unreliability
Not concerned about wrecking others' lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.
Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity
Promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts.
Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle
Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future, poor work ethic but exploits others effectively.
Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility
Changes their image as needed to avoid prosecution. Changes life story readily.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other Related Qualities:
Contemptuous of those who seek to understand them
Does not perceive that anything is wrong with them
Authoritarian
Secretive
Paranoid
Only rarely in difficulty with the law, but seeks out situations where their tyrannical behavior will be tolerated, condoned, or admired
Conventional appearance
Goal of enslavement of their victim(s)
Exercises despotic control over every aspect of the victim's life
Has an emotional need to justify their crimes and therefore needs their victim's affirmation (respect, gratitude and love)
Ultimate goal is the creation of a willing victim
Incapable of real human attachment to another
Unable to feel remorse or guilt
Extreme narcissism and grandiose
May state readily that their goal is to rule the world
(The above traits are based on the psychopathy checklists of H. Cleckley and R. Hare.)

Bajatrader that is good but nothing beats that big assed roast chicken. You could beat a Walmart greeter to death with that bad girl and have leftovers for two days.

Fiestafrog - For many years it was like driving up to the Circle K, but the military recently destroyed the "tienditas". Eliminated lines of traffic in some neighborhoods. I guess you will have to call for home delivery now. Taxi drivers are also a great informational resource. Remember that Steely Dan song: "Frankie, Don't Lose That Number".

Hey, all, I'm new to life in Mexico, do you mind taking the time to explain recycling here? I've seen the different colored cans on Playa Bonita, and I usually buy beer from a deposito, but what can I do with the cans and bottles I get from the Circle K or Ley's, to be sure they get recycled? Is there a charity or something? Thanks in advance, I appreciate all the advice I've received on this forum.
