My Shore Experience 6/19-6/21, 7/17-19 update.

Arrived early enough Friday to get unloaded and plenty of time to make afternoon high tide. Went out to the end of Sandy Beach and caught an 8" Trigger first cast. Continued to catch quite a few fish over a 2 hour period. My wife caught her first 3 fish ever in PP.
HOWEVER, she did not know how to work the damn video cam and recorded a lot of her talking with the camera face down in her beach towel! o_O:eek::mad::(
But I have managed to identify 2 of the fish I had not caught before.
First was a Star Studded Grouper about 9" long. BEAUTIFUL fish.

The other was a 12" Porkfish!

The rest were 8-12" Sand bass and Trigger, all released successfully.

Saturday as some of you might have seen in the other thread was the same activity, but by JJ's. All fish caught minus the Reef Sting Ray were given to Chino and his family. Quite a few fish and they were happy. Chino Was Especially happy to have the 14" Bullseye Puffer.

SUNDAY, Same time, afternoon High tide, directly out from Manny's, I was Slaying fish! Using Rig Walker Herring Lures.

The Sand Bass would not leave it alone. A local near by was having a ton of gear trouble. Pretty beat up stuff. So I gave him one but he could not use it with his bait casting rig. So he left and got a not so much better spinning rig.
Mean while I was catching bass left and right, throwing them on shore and he bucketed everyone of them except for a couple special ones. One I released it was a 10" Broomtail Grouper! Omg what a beautiful fish.

The other 2 I kept, they were also a first for me. Now I know with out pics none of this matters but, I did get pics of the 2 Shortfin Corvina! :):):):):)

The Small one was 18"!

As I packed up to leave, after putting atleast 10 bass in Citiel's bucket, I removed my Pflueger Trion reel and gave it to him. He was very touched. I made another friend.
I could not get the whole fish into the Selfie. Everyone about shit themselves when I walked back in the gates at La Palapa.
It was a GREAT weekend for Fishing from shore!

How do the Walker Hearing plastics hold up to the trigers bighting off the tails ?
I use a lot of Gulp 3" squid and they tear them up.

No triggers on the lures. But the bass tear them up pretty good. I fished for a little over an hour and a half with them. Pack has 5 lures, I gave 1 to a local, 1 Left in the pack and 1 still useable in my box. And still have the lead of the other 2 so I think they did well considering how many fish I caught.

I was tearing up the sand bass in the evening before dark with tide coming in half way. Also the Corvina were in schools fighting with the sand bass for the lure. Something bigger was going after the corvina they were jumping out of the way of this fish, didnt see what it was but had to be big. The next day I seen some fishermen close to shore with a guy on the bow with a harpoon spear trying to nail what ever was chasing the schools of corvina. Would of like to know what he was going after. The sand bass were biting my lure in half had to of gone thru 6 lures in an hour. Good thing I brought out walmart on them before coming down.

We are heading down Friday morning. Will be out fishing at high tide coming in for the afternoon. Tides for fishing show activity really high. I am getting excited.
I replaced the reel I gave the local, got a new Pflueger President to try out down there hehe.

Thats the brand of reel I use. I had a 7.5' light action rod with 6lb test. Just set the drag right so you dont have break off. I used those soft baits I told you about. Had hit almost every 1st or 2nd cast.

Good luck.

Just because you don't get a pic doesn't mean it didn't happen. Nice report and I'm glad u threw back your broomtail.

Fishing for the week end of 7/17-19.
I will try to post a video, I have no stills but Friday(7-17) even in the crazy assed wind I was catching fish like crazy.
Using a 1/2oz Storm Wildeye Shad, what I believe to be Sieras were hitting them as soon as it hit the water. Some even knocked the lure back out of the water. These freakin fish were jumping and thrashing and at least 8 threw the lures within 25 feet of me. It was amazing.
Once I had no more of the soft lures left, they were getting torn to shreds after about 5 or 6 fish, I switched to a Hurricane Kast-A-way Spoon 1/2oz. They were hitting that the same way but it had a 3 prong hook and it was a nightmare trying to get them out. So I switched to a single prong hook and it was working very well.

Some of you might know little Toni that "watches" cars down in the fish market... my sister and brother in law brought him out to the beach and I was already exhausted from the waves kicking my #$@%ing a$$, but I went back to fishing and in 10 minutes put 5 beautiful Siera into the bucket for his familia.
After icing the fish at the store by Wrecked we headed to his home and dropped him and the fish off.

That was the best day but I didn't get skunked at the other sites I fished. That first day I had landed at least 20 Siera between 13" and 20", and all but the 5 we delivered to Toni's family were successfully released.

Stay tuned for video from my new 1080p camera.
