No Competition!

The votes are in and the winners are;

Satisfied Frog
Anita & Jesus'
and
Mary's.

I know that when it comes to food, tastes are very subjective. Value is in the eye of the taster.

But there are certain things that are fact and the facts are simple.
Quality food , Service, Atmosphere and Consistency = Repeat Customers!
Great prices are just the icing on the cake.

For my entire family and all of our friends these 3 restaurants have become a huge factor in our visits. For some it is the best part of the trip.

Two of these restaurants have been around for a while. Long before I started my adventures in Puerto Peñasco.

Everyone knows the name Mary's. It is more or less an institution.
Mary's is a must for someone looking for a great fish and shrimp platter that will feed many people and taste the same each and every time. The Fish and Shrimp platter is a standard but the Avacado Surprise is fantastic.
First middle or last meal of the day, Mary's will not disappoint.

I have a very soft and warm spot in my heart for Anita and Jesus'.
"Where do you want to go for breakfast?" is no longer a question. No one even suggests anything else. We just say see you there.

All of the food there is really really good. I would eat the Mexican food there before most any other place I have tried, and yes I know I haven't tried such n such and so and so's. But the simple things like beans and rice are consistently the same texture and flavor. Consistently being the operative word! And when your food comes to the table you instantly know that it will be great.

But above the food, the family treats us like family. They remember us and even remember what my sisters, wife and brother in law order. I try something different every time to keep them on their toes. ;)
Holding the waiters son while they are getting our order isn't abnormal for us. Getting to watch him grow (5 months old now) and interacting with the family makes it more than a meal. And a genuine heartfelt hug makes us feel that more than just our money is appreciated.
I personally appreciate them, not just the food and service.

But, the stand out hands down winner of whats for dinner is The Satisfied Frog.
Since I did a full review on TSF, I want to build on that rather than a rehash of how fabulous EVERYTHING tastes there.
This place has what it takes to be "The Bar". Not the bar in the sense of where should we get a drink (great place to get a drink) but "The Bar" as in a standard that all others should strive to be.
As for variety, I know of no competition that they have.
The atmosphere is very upbeat with out the feeling that they are putting on a show.

The staff remembers and greets you as a returning friend. Jesus and Martin bust their butts to Satisfy ;) the guests and the bar tender is the ONLY bar tender that can make my wife her Dirty Vodka Tonics the way they should be! (I haven't memorized her name and I feel bad)
THANK YOU LETY!:)

But this visit I was lucky enough to meet, observe and genuinely talk to and maybe even bond with Rick Nielsen(sp).
He wasn't the sit there and pick at the employees kinda boss but actually out on the floor working it with his staff. Pumping up the patrons as he poured "Mas Tequila" onto the chunks of what I assume are cake in preparation for the fried Tequila shots. Then coming back out with them and creating a sweet cloud in the air as he smothered them in powdered sugar at their table.
No I haven't tried them yet , I have no doubt they are great.

I already felt comfortable at TSF, but now it has moved into that something else category. It is a place I can't wait to take people to or to turn people on to.
Some people we met at the resort pool couldn't wait to try it after no one could or would stop talking about it. So they went with my brother in law and friends. Just taking random people to our favorite place!

To Rick, thank you for the talk and the service and everything. I can't wait to talk food with you again. And thank you for making everyone of my family and friends feel the same way I do about The Satisfied Frog.

Oh, the Nachos are SOOOOO good.

As you head into the Fishmarket (Malicon) it is on your right side can't miss it. There is parking right in front.

Anita and Jesus' is West of Benito Juares on Calle 13. Left hand (south) side of the road. If you see Guss's you went to far. Venustiano Carranza and calle 13 across from the Tecate store
