Sonoyta Still Hot!

Beach Sand

Hey Beach Sand......

Take a few minutes and pull your head out of that hole in the beach sand.

Please elaborate on your above quote JJ? Many here don't appreciate when others speak of Rocky Point in a negative way, just the same as you continually put down the origin of many of us that enjoy visiting Mexico by referring to the USA as the USSA. I myself take the information about Sonoyta to be very informative as it is my main route to Rocky Point. I have yet to hear of any instances as you refer to in either Gila Bend or Ajo that can compare to Sonoyta in the last 41 years that I've been here.

Hey BS..........

If you have the time you might browse this discussion 'Border' and take note that the number one most common subject is the rotten criminal cops of Sonoyta, Sonora, Mexico and PP.

For anyone that has made the drive from I-8 South on Hwy 85 to Lukeville how many times have you seen or been stopped DPS especially in the Black Gap area? That stretch is a first class 'Speed Trap'. Smokey makes a killin' there due to posting a speed limit so slow that 99 of of 100 vehicles will qualify for a speeding ticket.

As for Gila Bend, the main drag qualifies as a speed trap as well. Of the four county Sheriff vehicles that patrol that stretch usually all four are writing up speeding tickets. Hwy 85 from Gila Bend to Buckeye is another trap with an unjustified low speed limit so the Man can prey on almost every vehicle on the road.

I-8 West from the Gila Mountains to the California line is a known feeding frenzy for all three branches of LEO's. The highway speed drops from seventy five to sixty for no justifiable reason other than line the coffers of the state, county and city.

I-8 West of Yuma is just like running a gauntlet of CHP vehicles. At any time there are a dozen of them on the shoulder writing speeding tickets. I was just plain stupified when a few years back, I had pulled into the rest stop at Grey's Well in the Imperial Dunes area and a CHP pulled up behind me and said he was going to write me up for speeding. He actually had the balls to write a ticket for my truck and another for the boat trailer! That was to be a heap of green for the sleepy little Winterhaven California Justice Court. I went to the court there to contest the two $110.00 fines especially since I was PARKED off of the highway when the cop approached me. Which by the way the charges were dropped.

As for the 'elaborate on my above quote', you can't tell me that you have never heard the cliche about the Ostrich with his head in the sand, or worse, up his a**?

And by the way, I have sworn my oath seven times and been around the world a few times to say the least.

I am confused why drivers cannot obey the posted speed limits. If you don't want a speeding ticket in the US, don't speed. It really is that simple. In Mexico that may or may not be true. Police are there to slow people down because SPEED KILLS.

We used to go Mazatlán about 3 times a year. Penasco is easier but I miss going to Mazatlán. We were at El Cid Marina and had just pulled out on the street. Flashing red light. Cop said he followed us for a few blocks and we were going 50 mph. The bellman came down and spoke to him in Spanish and he left. WE were 15 feet from the hotel driveway. We always watch our speed but in that case it would not have mattered. I now turn on the cell phone and record the speedometer in the car going thru Sonoyta.
