The Triqui People in Y Griega

So I was having one of those great "old guy" days in the hard, crossroads coastal town of Y Griega last week where you go to the hardware store and end up killing the whole day in an unsuspected way.Eating lunch at the always good PaloVerde restaurant I got in a conversation with a bilingual dwarf from Nogales and a Sinaloa cowboy that manages farm labor and owned this great truck parked next to mine image.jpg

While we were eating and drinking a few beers a group of kids walk buy selling tortillas mom made and the man from Sinaloa says " Triqui" It turns out in "The Y" there is a community of farm laborers that work in the Asparagus fields and have settled here from the misty cloud Forrest's of Oaxaca high country. So after lunch me and midget hopped in my truck and drove the kids back to the neighborhood and I met some amazing people.I would have taken a few photos but they are not crazy about cameras.

They speak little spanish and have a amazing history. http://intercontinentalcry.org/peoples/triqui/

The government of municipal Caborca is now getting power to the shacks they live in.
