Perhaps the talk can explain why Bar owners insist on broadcasting Loud music to sleeping neighborhoods? We are camped in Playa de Oro rv park. With the economy down turn Puerto Penasco begs for tourist dollars and yet they chase us away with this counter productive behavior. We are talking crazy wattage Base speakers that rattle the walls. Policia do nothing. If you don't have earplugs you get No sleep.
Perhaps if the Rockypointtalk bans together in protest?
thanks for listing to this newbee Zora

Zola it is a sad thing but most likely drunken Rockypointtalk members ( and more likely ex members wearing cheap strings of beads and Hawaiian shirts) are the ones cranking up the stereo

Unfortunately Zora you picked the worst weekend of the you picked the one weekend during the year when it's like that to be there. Don't judge the whole place by one weekend. It's the equivalent of Mexican Spring Break.

I lived on Calle Durango right next door to that noise for awhile. Elixer was bad enough then the old Sandbar opened under a new name and was even louder than Elixer. I found it impossible to sleep on noise nights. Initially they were open 7 days, then only weekends. It was still unbearable. Ear plugs did no good. I went to Playa del Oro in my RV and stayed there a few nights. It was much less.

You have to take great care in protesting anything as a non Mexican. The only people that can do anything about it is the owners of the park but they prolly won't . Not sure they need the money. The owners of the place I lived in could have done something but would not. I would make a statement with my wallet and go elsewhere, I sure would not pay for that entertainment. My guess is they will close after Semana Santa.

Remember it is Semana Santa. Let the locals have their fun. It's only once a year and in reality, it's their beach.
Agree 100%. Mexico doesn't have to cater to gringos 100% of the time. In reality, there is probably more money made in RP from Mexican nationals than gringos. Reminds me of July 4th weekend in 2000 when the gringos were complaining about not being able to buy alcohol because of the presidential elections. I remember one American woman saying, "What is wrong with them, don't they know it's a holiday weekend?" Lmao!!!!!

Has there ever been a study regarding the economic impact of Semana Santa? No doubt the condos do well. My understanding is very little money is spent at restaurants (understandable) but I wonder how the other businesses fare. Quite a few of the visitors that I have encountered over the years bring their own food and primarily buy water and alcoholic beverages in town.
