14-15mph wind this weekend -- too much?

Well Stu, it at least allows you to save up for more gas money. At 12. 50 per liter at an exchange rate of 12.25 along with a thirsty motor, I had gas pump shock. I am not much of a math guy but I think it equivalent to $3.86 and that is before they even short change you on the accuracy of what they dispense. I think I need one of them little 14' boats myself...

Sometimes, I kick myself in the ass simply as a reminder that I never should have sold my 23' aluminum Bayrunner with the Honda 130 that delicately sipped the fuel. Used to average 4.5 mpg in that boat, often better. Lucky if I see 1.5 in the ProKat. I typically burn 90 gallons on a trip to the 51, put 100 gallons in for a bit of reserve. I just hand over the pesos... don't even want to think about that "price per fish per pound" thing!

If I keep my Zukes below 4500 on flat water I can get 3mpg, which is damn near astonishing for a dual outboard setup. -- I have actually made it to the 51, fished all day, and made it back to port on less than 40 gallons. But 4500rpm is only about 24 mph.

When the water is smooth, my throttle hand refuses to stop pushing the hammers until the twin japs are singing their 6500rpm tune, and then we're down in the 1.9 mpg range, lol.

I have no self control whatsoever...

There's something to be said for averaging 40 mph on flat water. Many times I've raced the sunset back to port from the 51 and being able to do it in an hour 15 minutes is a blessing. Pemex be damned, drop those throttles and run baby!

Any update on the conditions? We were thinking of heading out this weekend in my buddy's 19ft center console. We got caught in some rough seas last month out of Gonzaga bay and would like to avoid a repeat. Thanks.

This coming weekend (Apr 25-27) looks el crappo on Friday and Saturday (might even see red flags on Saturday- 20+ mph winds), but so far the forecast looks pretty decent/fishable on Sunday.

We might take time of work and run down on Sunday to fish Monday if the forecast holds...

Its blowing bad now, and I looked on the web and its going to be getting a little more worst in a couple of hours. Drive slow and prepare for sudden wind bursts.

And I thought last year was about the windiest I'd ever seen. Looks like Blowfest Part Deux so far this year. <grumble, grumble>

You have to look on the positive side of this. If you have the wind to your back going out, you will save gas.
