What ever we had a Las Palomas was a major ptoblem but I think it was the installation. It was in Phase I. We spend a ton on money on it the four years we were there.

We had to replace one and found it cheaper to buy in mesa and bring down. It fit in suv. We were quoted almost $2000 in rp including installation but bought a better one in az and with claiming at border and installation was just under $1000

What size unit. And what brand

Ours was for condo. Also if bringing across border, it was made in usa, so covered under nafta...we had 3 people in car to bring duty down which ended up being $60....however learned, had we had another item to claim, it would of been 0 as there is a car limit on duty if applying to one item.

I had two Trane units installed to replace the originals in my PHX house about 7 years ago and so far they have been very reliable. Just one problem about 3 years ago in one of the units, a blown capacitor which was replaced under warranty. Mine are not heat pumps however, I have conventional A/C with gas furnaces.

Wouldn't mini splits be more cost effective?

Looked into that. Because of room configuration would need four and additional cost for electrical. Would turn out to be about the same

Materials cost the same but you can zone your use and maybe save a lot on electricity that way so cheaper in the long run.

If you can't find anything in RP I have a friend that does installations in the Phx area & is able to buy wholesale. He installed two Trane heatpumps for me at a very good price. I'm sure he would sell you just the unit cheaper than anywhere else. If interested PM me and I'll hook you up.

What do you mean, "It died?" What doesn't work? Does the indoor fan work? Does the outdoor fan work? Does the compressor work? In all cases, the most likely component failure is a starting capacitor. Replace it and you're good to go. (There is a refrigeration place in town.)

What's the name of the refrigeration place in town? I'm looking for a new drip pan and was told to go to Profe Parts, but was told that they don't carry the pan I need.

Our property manager replaced a 5 ton rooftop unit last fall for $3500. I thought that was a pretty good deal. I thought that to be a pretty good deal as i didn't have to do anything and we were only down 45 minutes

Sorry -- don't know. Have no experience with refrigeration places in Penasco -- just have passed a number of them, such as one south of Sam's toward Dominguez.

Exact thing happened to our 18-year-old Trane 2 weeks ago . . . turned out to be blower motor, which had gotten water into it, and burned out. Removed the motor (with similar effort as you), took it back north with us to Trane in Tempe, where they advised that those older versions did not have the moisture resistance that they now build into the newer version. Bought a new version, took it down last week, replaced within an hour, and voila!
