Open about a month ago, it is located in the port area across from where the Intrepid is parked, the old Terramar Restaurant, in my opinion Sonora has one of the best beef in the southwest and they sure know how to cook it at Bacanora, 2 of the 4 partners have been in the restaurant business for years and they both have showed us how good food is here in PP, the chef has worked for Las Palomas and Mayan Palace among a few other restaurant.
We ordered the Parrillada, WOW!!! we were so amazed with the flavors bursting in our mouths that we did not speak until the food was almost gone.
OK first they brought us a creme of shrimp soap which reminded me of Chupe de camarones from Peru, if you like shrimp this soup will blow you away!!!!!
The soup was followed by a salad with a house dressing made with chile chiltepin very tasty and not as hot as it sounds then the main entree came in sizzling iron skillet with cambray onion (mexican green onions) nopales, ribs, and two more cuts of beef and a mexican sausage that has the consistency/texture of a hot dog winner but has a different taste similar to chorizo all this beauty was left in front of us with forks and knives and the salsas they brought were finger liking good the well known tomatillo green salsa, a pico de gallo style one with green chiles and the best was the apple and chiltepin salsa, this one is hot and TASTY!!!
We ended dinner with strawberries with vanilla ice cream flamed in bacanora and chiltepines ( they will make it to your heat as in chile heat) talk about a flavor mix WOW!!!!
Most if not everything has a touch of bacanora (mexican moonshine) and they use artesanal bacanora, we are not bacanora drinkers however we ordered a shot to have the full experience.
It was well worth it going and tasting the best grilled beef and best of all, the customer service, was like nowhere in RP!!!!.

Well, it is very strong and I shoot it as most people drink tequila (which is the wrong way to drink tequila) as it is like fire in your mouth, however used in the food as it is being cooked is a completely different taste!!!

Ah, I still remember my first taste of bacanora....
It was introduced in the same classic way it has been in subsequent experiences. If the party goes long enough, the beer starts to run out, and the switch is made to hard liquor (usually tequila or whiskey). Then, if the party KEEPS going, the hard liquor runs out and usually someone disappears into the house and reappears with a 2-liter soda bottle filled with an ominous liquid that those yearning to keep the buzz going are enticed to inbibe.
Good God, I got knocked on my ass that first time. There was another memorable moment involving a company Christmas party, a co-worker's 9 year old son, and a 2-liter Sprite bottle that was NOT filled with Sprite ;)

They have a small indoor space adjacent to the bar. It's not as nice as the patio but allows you to have enjoy a great meal during the hotter months

This restaurant is excellent. Great food and excellent service, from people who you can see are really into what they are doing. Appears to be authentic, traditional Sonoran cuisine. Places like this are why I travel.

one thing is for sure when you have Martin opening a restaurant it is going to be up on the list of the good ones if not the BEST, you want the real thing then don't waste your time thinking about it, if you enjoy TRUE mexican food from Sonora!!!!!

I ate there several months ago to try something new and glad I did. Their margarita was top notch and made with bacanora. It had a smoky flavor to it that I really enjoyed.

We are heading down on Christmas day. I can't wait to try this place. Truthfully the majority of the food down there is no better than almost any restaurant in my area of Mesa AZ. And me being an AZ. Mexican almost everything I make is better.
I need to try stuff we can't get up here and expand my recipe collection.
I like Guss's Tacos but since the first time down I have met and had it in with Memo so he always treats us right.
La Curva is so so , but the people I go with know them well so it's always great service. The best thing they have there is the Molcajete.
And Lucas ... well the chicken is good I guess.
Marys was awesome the first time I went there. I gave the lone guitar player a buck and he let me play his guitar, lol.
But now having some place to look forward to is exciting.
