Isn't there a service that will pick your order up at the store and drive it to you. Like a grub hub.

Maybe some of the restaurants that deliver take out might pick up your items at the store and bring you their food order with the store order. Maybe a way to stay in business.

Restricting entering even more now as of today April 10.

April 10.2020 As of 6 a.m. today new measures are in place in Puerto Peñasco in efforts to prevent possible Covid-19 contagion in the city. These include:
* Only access into Puerto Peñasco via Sonoyta highway. Access closed along Puerto Peñasco-El Golfo and Puerto Peñasco-Caborca highways
* ANYONE coming into Puerto Peñasco from the Sonoyta highway will be confined to 12 day isolation in an area hotel (which as of last night was yet to be named) Only those with proof of re...sidency in Puerto Peñasco will be allowed anyway, and then placed in the 12 day isolation. (Entry points to be overseen by Navy along with Municipal Police and National Guard accompanied by members of the Mexican Army, State Police, and local Red Cross)
* Providers of essential supplies - Former protocols to remain in effect, allowing entry but demanding compliance with use of latex gloves, masks, and glasses - and to only be in area during the time to load/unload

another update in effect 4/13/20

IMPORTANT! - Monday, April the 13th thru April 30th, Phase 2 will be implemented in the state of Sonora. (Phase 2- Obligatory Stay at Home) State Health council... along with State Government and local authorities will be implementing these new measures.
1.- only 1 person per vehicle (and we advise you that in addition to your residency card, you need to carry a copy of your CFE or another bill with your name and physical Peñasco address while traveling in the city.)
2.- only 1 pedestrian (meaning no groups of 2 or more ppl together on the street to get essential supplies)
If you do not follow orders you will be FINED!!
This is all to reduce the presence of the public on the streets by 85% to only ESSENTIAL circulation.
-As of today Sonora has a very high mortality rate being at 14% and the Secretary of State Health said the state would lack machinery/space if patients are all infected at the same time....
Here is the list of Essentials
1. Buying groceries or going to pharmacy.
2. Dr. Appointments (in Peñasco)
3. Going to work (only in the essential group)
4. Returning to your home/residence
5. Having to leave the house to take care of an elder, children, handycapped or specially the vulnerable.
6. Going to the Bank, or paying bills at CFE, Telmex, Telcel.

UPDATE ON SOME OF THE QUESTIONS WE ALL HAVE REGARDING THE QUARANTINE...

1- ONLY residents or citizens of Peñasco will be allowed into the city. Residents living... in the outskirts of town can also come to town to get essential supplies, again, only one person per vehicle, and they need to be wearing a mask, gloves, and glasses.
(This includes, Playa Encanto, Mayan Palace, Hacienda de Cortez, Laguna Shores, Las Lagrimas)
2 - Medical personnel that needs to travel outside the city, will also be placed in quarantine upon their return.
3. Workers that are currently working at the mines outside of PP will have to prove residency to be able to return to town.
4. Anyone coming into town that is recovering from surgery will be allowed to quarantine at home under supervision. If you were just going to a regular Dr. Appointment you will be placed on quarantine when you return.
5. Pregnant women will be allowed to attend to their appointments and check-ups in Peñasco.
6. All drivers that deliver essential supplies to town will be supervised/controlled. (Same, they have to be wearing a mask, gloves, and glasses)
7. Again, please 1 person in the car ONLY, and only leave the house if it is absolutely essential. (STARTING MONDAY THE 13TH AT 6AM)
8. And YES, if you are placed in quarantine YOU will be the one having to pay for the 12-day stay, WHY? Because you decided to leave the city. (we do not have the name of the hotel)
9. People arriving to Peñasco by bus/van/shuttle, will have to provide proof of residency and will be placed in quarantined.
10. - STAY HOME!! STAY SAFE!!
Thanks to Dr. Oscar Castro - City Health Coordinator of Puerto Peñasco.

April 13th - IMPORTANT UPDATE ON TOTAL RESTRICTED ACCESS TO PEÑASCO

The Puerto Peñasco Municipal Health and Security Board have unanimously approved extending ...restrictive prevention measures due to State and Federal Emergency measures against Covid-19 coronavirus.

* TOTAL restriction on access to the city, this applies as well to Puerto Peñasco residents coming in from elsewhere. This will be in effect for the next 15 days
* Only individuals with emergency medical concerns, or those that work within the food chain, will be allowed access.
* Puerto Peñasco residents that are outside of the sanitary barrier (i.e. Hacienda de Cortés, Las Lagrimas, Laguna Shores, Playa Encanto, as well as guests or workers at Mayan Palace, Islas del Mar, etc) may only access with one person per vehicle - showing identification and proof of residence/stay and/or address
* 24-hour Shelter in Place instruction, only one person can be aboard a vehicle, and only to carry out essential activities.
* Reduced business hours for essential activities - all businesses must close by 9 p.m.
* People not doing essential activities not allowed on streets
The mayor detailed, in line with the State mandatory Shelter at Home decree (April 13 - 30), the six essential activities that people may leave their homes for are:
1. To buy food, pharmaceutical and primary need products.
2. To go to health clinics, hospitals, or centers or an establishment with an essential service.
3. To go to workplaces for those continuing to work in essential activities.
4. Returning home
5. Helping or care for the elderly, dependent minors, persons with disabilities or that are particularly vulnerable.
6. Going to financial entities (banks)

“We know those taking part in the operatives are tired, distressed, and even desperate as the response from the community, though acceptable, is still lacking; this is why we shouldn’t let our guard down. Up to now we have overcome Covid-19, and have no confirmed cases in Puerto Peñasco,” stressed the mayor
www.facebook.com/groups/PuertoPenasco/?fref=nf

Not sure how having zero cases here is a good thing? They will eventually open back up and someone from within Mexico or outside of Mexico will visit and then what??? Everywhere else they are "slowing" the transmission to give people a chance to recover before the next set get it. Everything I have read says its like the flu and its not if you get it, but when you get it.

I live in Puerto Peñasco outside the “sanitary barrier”. So, I’ve been through it a couple of times after it got really serious, including this morning. It is really serious. I’ve needed to show documents going in and going out. Most critically my residence card and electric bill. My neighborhood office also just issued me a photo ID and an an official looking letter stating I live there. A neighbor who neglected to get his residence card was going to attempt to get admission to go to the grocery store using just the neighborhood issued documents, an electric bill, property tax bill etc. I haven’t checked in with him to see how it went.

You get stopped multiple times each way, by local police, Marina, Red Cross, etc. You get your skin temperature taken with an infrared thermometer.

This virus is killing a lot of seniors in the US. If you are over a certain age and have any pulmonary challenges or diabetes you might be looking at a coin flip. I have acquaintances living in Puerto Peñasco over the age of 65 with either emphysema, COPD, or heavy smoking. These people are sheltering in place.
