Mike and I are quite new here from PV, where we lived for 12 years. We started out in Co. and want to be closer to family. We belonged to a couple nice blogs there, but everyone posting there was actually living in PV. Here we see many folks who give advice about Puerto Penasco actually live somewhere else, and are not really spending any time in Mexico except weekend visits. The reason I ask is we had this same clinger/groupie problem in PV until the blog managers asked the members to state if they actually lived in the community or were just armchair experts. When they set up some rules the quality and validity of advice from the "experts" improved a lot. This blog in Penasco has many folks from various towns in USA, including some who give a lot of expert sounding advice about Rocky Point but live in unknown places like Tempe, Prescot, Goodyear, etc. Mike and I know these wannabe's Mexicans are not credible about much about Mexico, but how do inexperienced folks, asking for advice about living in Mexico and Penasco, know to ignore their silly advice and opinions? Seems some of the dreamer experts are heavy users of the blog. Can the website manager set up something so honest people can identify if the advice and info is coming from a real resident?

I don't consider myself dishonest and I resent that you feel I am an armchair anything. I have been going to RP for 30+ years mostly for weekends, learned to speak fluent Spanish so as to enjoy the people and town better and ended up marrying a native of RP 18 years ago. I spend more time than weekends and I know many, many folks who know more than the permanent residents and like to share info with ungrateful people like yourself. You seem to think everyone here should meet your standards but we kinda think ya' should meet ours. I am in constant touch w/RP so if you would like to know whats going on or how the fishing or weather is at any given time just ask but please don't come to MY forum and criticize me

JWT......We don't want or need your kind on this forum or in Rocky Point.
Please take your rant elsewhere.
Thanks and have a nice day :)

JWT (whoever that is), you've created one of the most misguided posts I've ever seen on any forum. News bulletin: This site is owned and managed by a guy who lives in or around Phoenix. Maybe that qualifies him as one of those "clinger/groupie" types you referred to, but without him this forum wouldn't even exist. American ex-pats comprise a very small percentage of Rocky Point residents as well as forum participants. If you want a forum for residents only, I suggest you start one, and good luck with that.

Fyi on sonoyta speed trap....also watch once your way out of town as well...have had 2 friends nailed and we were lucky a semi was in front of us and warned us not to pass. Both friends were just a few km over.

Well I would not have put it that way but that person has a point. While some who live in AZ are very informed about Penasco some are not and post 'information' anyway. Some on the forum have a good historic perspective but are not real current on what's happening here. Might be nice if people would qualify their responses a little better. Having said that I personally welcome everyone. The goofballs become evident fairly quickly.:eek::eek::D:D:D

I would just like to point out that the forum does have people who live and do business in Penasco, who when posting any positive information are often roundly attacked as boosters and false promoters by non residents, to the point of frustration, probably wondering why they even bother participating.

I think you have the wrong perspective here. There is a huge difference from being 4 hours from RP and 16 hours from PV. Although we are weekend warriors many are very frequent visitors. I know we were in RP over 130 days last year. If I have something to contribute I do. I'm am not retired or a trust fund baby and have to come back to work, so I find your attitude offensive. We have had our home in RP for 40 years and feel I should be able to offer input even if I am not full time.
