This poster is not accurate. The totuava and white sea bass are mixed up. Groupers are anything but slow growing and long lived-that would be black sea bass!

Jim you are right on with your understanding of how the ocean reclaims all this stuff. The "parking lot" bottom is by far, in my opinion, the most devastating situation to the eco-system in the upper SOC.

There has been some question as to the identification of that fish-sawtail or broom-tail. Pictures have been sent to a fish expert for confirmation. We were out at the 43 mile reef.

I agree with Stu-VHF, cell phone, travel with others and let people know your plans and good maintainence is your best bet. I had the Spot and a satellite phone but they were both a pain. There is pretty much always someone within radio contact, the cell towers are strung out along the coast...
