what is the current state of this project....I received a message from a guy that doesn't use computers but really needs too!

I must say that I had no idea of the level of fraud concentrated in such a small berg. That Clifton guy made off with thirty plus MILLION DOLLARS? And walked free! Why hasn't someone got a posse formed up and given each and every one of those thieving scoundrels a proper neck tie party then leave their filthy carcass out in el desierto por los Zopilotes to pick clean. Also, it is just plain insane to hear about so many people willingly shelling out their LIFE SAVINGS to the shiftless bastards. It was common knowledge even back in the 60's that to BUY property in Mexico meant that sooner or later you would loose it.

JJ, this project was the kids big move.....dad saved the day by getting the Act of God excuse oked in Mexican court....magic!

The timing of your inquiry after this thread has been dead for 8 years, is relevant and interesting. I was one of the investors in a La Perla condo unit. I can't provide details right now, but probably can within the next couple of months, about some activity that has been going on for a few years now. Anyway, I know most people are tired of hearing about ancient history from the boom and bust of the past decade, but for those of us that got burned (yes, we were stupid, but we got played criminally by scheisters and politicians), my future information may be of interest.

Ron, thanks for the reply.The person that contacted me has professional considerations that make it hard to look into this...a typical Rockypoint scam deal that sort of makes his father look like a sucker...That is a bad thing in politics or business. Please ignore Super Boosterman's dig and get the info out...I do wonder if this is one of those efforts to bleed the victims again.be careful!

No, my forthcoming information has nothing to do with a subsequent effort to scam the original victims again.

As I stated in May that I would have more info on this defunct project, I can now confirm that, thanks to the hard work of the Arizona Attorney General's office, a group of us victims have received settlement payments this month, with subsequent annual payments forthcoming in September of '18 and September of '19. All told, we will end up with about 60% of our investments back.

Considering the disaster that became the real estate market in RP at the time (10 years ago) and the fact that the victims of most of those condo tower scams recovered Bupkus, I am personally thrilled at the settlement.

Not only does the settlement feel like the end of a hellacious mental journey, the whole experience made me much smarter (and much, much more skeptical).

I have never spent one red cent in Mexico since this fiasco, and never will. That, and pulling some of my money back out of this "developers" deep pockets, were some of the most important and satisfying decisions of my life.

To those of you who enjoy life down in RP, I wish you the continued good life. You're probably better off having had a bunch of greedy leeches destroy the market down there for two decades or who knows how much longer than that. Nice 'n quiet for y'all.

Great job... almost impossible... people committed suicide over these deals...which developer paid up?
