I have a new red SUV. Came out of a store and a cart had hit the side of my red SUV. Chipped the painted. About 7 yrs ago I had the same thing happened and I took it to a paint place in PP that I was given and they fixed in for $20. There is no dent just a paint chip. Up here they want $270 to fix it. Any suggestions?

We used to go to The Reef and have the motorhome guys paint for us. I have had then fix my motorhome when I jackknifed the trailer and punched a hole in the bumper. Then I have had them paint the topper for my truck to match. Two different trucks. Good work and cheap.

$270 is a very reasonable price to repair a chip and refinish the panel. If an established and reliable business with a long track record of good reviews quoted this price I would suggest paying them to do it. Your SUV comes from the manufacturer with a basecoat/clearcoat paint finish and it is important to repair and refinish damage with a comparable paint system using top quality paint and materials that have a history of surviving the harsh desert southwest sun exposure. Anything less will lead to premature paint failure, specifically clearcoat failure, such as losing it’s shine, turning white, deteriorating and peeling off. We have seen some products last only about a year before failing.
