Temporary License Plates in Mexico

I was hoping to get some information as to temporary plates when traveling to Rocky Point.

We have some friends that are wanting to come down with us in the next couple weeks, but they are concerned about having a new vehicle without official AZ plates, and with just the temporary paper, 45 day plate.

Has anybody had any problems with higher than usual police stops with temp plates?

Do they give you any additional problems at the border?

Larry, Although it was a few years ago, I spent a week in Rocky Point just after I bought my truck with temporary plates and didn't have any problems with police stops or additional scrutiny at the border. As usual, you should have your registration information available. I would say it's not unusual to see new vehicles with US temporary plates in Rocky Point and I've seen this pretty regularly over the years. Any other opinions or experience?

Thank you for the input Jay.

As Jay mentioned , any other opinions or experiences ?

I registered a used Toyota Corrolla in AZ in September and was issued paper plates. I have had no problem driving to Rocky Point or driving daily around town. The wait time for real plates is about 4-6 weeks in AZ, so in a couple of weeks I'll take the drive back to AZ to get the metal plate.
