    Spring Break 2015

Glad there weren't any deaths. As far as the numbers go, Whew it's up to 85K people now. Look at the pic's, they tell the real story some decent crowds but I'm not seeing 85K and then compare them to the pic's from next weeks Semana Santa to see what 75k people really looks like. Glad no one...

    Shore FIshing 3/16-3/21

On the ocean side of the hill, in Cholla at Pinto Point and to the east going to the SB is where you are at, that area is usually very good fishing, Some of my local buddies do all their shore fishing there. Almost every time I see them they have some fish in a bucket and ask me for some ice...

    Spring Break 2015

If you mean Semana Santa it starts next weekend the 28th, but RP will become totally crazy on the 1st and 2nd. It's a week I tend to avoid because it's that busy, long waits everywhere almost impossible to get around town.

    Spring Break 2015

I've been there for most SB's and I'm sure some places were busy and I was down for the 1st weekend and left on Wednesday so I'm sure it got busier. Another reason I doubt there were 55k, is there would be 6hr waits today vs the 30 minutes from the above post. Having been in RP during Easter...

    Spring Break 2015

http://www.numerounoonline.com/main...42-puerto-penasco/200761-milenio#.VQzu33zF_9k They estimated 55,000 visitors, very inflated numbers IMHO. They all must have been only active between 12pm and 6am. ;) I didn't venture to the Malecon or the Mirador, which I was told was busy, so maybe I...

Gun battle in front of school in Rocky Point March 17

When I was down last week a local friend of mine and I were taking some brush and junk to the dump on the east side of Penasco. We drove past a number of newer housing complexes just west of the dump that were for sale or rent. My friend said they were owned by the Cartel. As we were heading...

    Spring Break 2015

Pretty tame vs 20 years ago. But then I don't hang out at the hot spots from those days. Cholla was pretty quiet Sat-Wednesday. Not many houses lit up near us, JJ's had 25 people Sat night. Bandito's had a decent crowd Sunday night. People told me Friday and Saturday night that Bandito's and...

The Homeport...A reason a week it is a bad idea

We were in Sonoyta on Wednesday between 2 and 3PM, seemed pretty normal to us. Didn't see any extra police or Marines patrolling. The taco stand by Vasquez's store was tasty and busy. Only shooting we witnessed were police shooting radar at the southern end of town ;) We also saw another...

Peso/US dollar exchange rip off in RP restaurants.

We went to La Curva today and had a nice lunch, bill came to $19.96 or 253 peso's which works out to 12.7 to 1, I used Peso's since I just got 15.65 to 1 at Banorte one hour earlier, saved $3.80 or 19% which paid for the tip. La Curva has been updating the prices on the menu a lot since they...

Peso/US dollar exchange rip off in RP restaurants.

Sadly, PP becoming the place for AZ people to visit will take awhile to happen. Many of the business owners are too short sighted and only care about what they make today and less about the future. A serious moral change will have to occur with some of the business's. PP has lost some of it's...

Skip Sonoyta speed trap..use New Nogales Crossing

First of all let me thank Jerry for getting me out of a ticket with his info from the previous post. Crossed today Sat, at 3:15 my wife was driving our SUV got to the check point, red light, pulled over Mexican Border agent said we had beautiful cats and said have a safe trip. Easy as can be...

Finding the Good Deals In The City: Todays's special

PPRES = Permanent Puerto Penasco Resident. Some member came up with that in order to differentiate " The more important insecure permanent residents" vs the majority of us part time low life's that visit Penasco and suck the life out of it with our presence and $$. ;)

Peso/US dollar exchange rip off in RP restaurants.

Actually, it's closer to a 16% savings. Which is why I will try to use Peso's for most everything over $25, I buy in Mexico. I did a $7,500 construction project 2 1/2 years ago and by using the spread I was able to save almost $1,100 on the project by using peso's vs dollars. I bought at 14-1...

Can I get in and out without a Passport??

Don't know exactly where in Ajo, but Homeland Security has 21 homes built for Avg cost of $600k each and bought another 20+ mobile homes for Avg cost of $125k each, because they were told there wasn't adequate housing for the agents. These places were fitted with state of the art stuff and now...

Can I get in and out without a Passport??

I just figured they would have said something about the expired passports. The whole port of entry deal is just a joke, they built an expensive shade cover going from US to Mexico, I believe some shade was necessary for those agents protecting Mexico from all the vacationing terrorists I see...

Yes, we have met, that 2 story house belongs to my friends from Tempe. I'm sure you met Chuck and Dori. Every time I've seen you are down, I go over to say Hi but you are gone, I ask Karen and Gary who used to live next to you and they say you had just left, and gone back to California. My next...
