Heading down next week. We will be dropping off a bunch food at Barbs and wanted to donate to the orphanage, but I haven't been there in many years. Is it still there, if so what are their current needs besides cash?
Thanks, [email protected]
There were huge schools of pompano in the area back in the 60s and 70s for sure. The dolphin and porpoise pods, big mackerel would feed on them creating massive boils.
We caught pompano, leather backs and Corvina at the estuary back then when the sardine schools were massive. There were sharks...
Joe. I'm assuming that you are coming up from the north valley area and Google is directing you to go through Jacob Lake. The best route is through Page and Kanab then down to Fredonia. More miles but much flatter and less wear and tear on your rig. Plus the scenery is awesome.
Yes. That's my son and I in that pic. Took us a few attempts to get some bait, a bit out of practice plus the tide was heading out at the time.
We only take what we need and release anything that is not a sardine immediately. Best bait for surf fishing, been doing it for 40 years or so.
Please do. Our family has a long history in PP beginning in the late 50s. I have many photos to share. Unfortunately we did lose quite a few oldies in a house fire back in the mid 80s.
