    Cholla Bay Kayak Fishing

Mexico Joe will come around and answer eventually. He's the Guru. My experience, lots of Mackerels, Triggers, Rock Bass, Corvina, Flounder etc. You use the right technique and gear and you'll catch a huge variety.

    CBSC Fishing Derby to resume!

June would be fun, I think we would miss out on a species or two as it warms up. Maybe not though. There would be some logistics to work out, as far as having a general time frame, have to convince some.of the full timers down there to stay at the scales. I can only run scales on a few days off...

Hahaha, I'm still waiting for a surf bite like what you described, I've been beating myself up on every rock between pelican and pinto, some even have names! The Jetti as well, I've had good juvi groupers there but never surpassed 1-2lb so back into the water they go. A cooler of...

    CBSC Fishing Derby to resume!

Well I see your point! I'm also a fan of that idea, I've never really done derby's before until this one, I was disappointed when JJs stopped doing theirs, I was looking forward to it. However I still really enjoy doing this as well since it's an excuse to get some extra time down there. The...

Where and how to fish from shore?

I'm a big fan of fishing around Cholla, the rocks from pelican point to pinto point are my go to spots. Just be careful with the tide! Squid, some swim baits and Kast Masters have been really good for me. Blue and silver does me the best.

    Unexpected

Oddity, hmmm I'd have to say the California Scorpion fish from boat and Pelican, always surprised by Parrot fish too.

    CBSC Fishing Derby to resume!

So yes you must launch from Cholla as far as I have gathered I made sure to ask, because I was going to charter from old port, and Villa is doing launching from what I gather, we changed the May dates because he didn't want to deal with the radical and odd timing tide,(understandable). I'll be...
