I for one like this idea. I think initially it will cut into Head Outs business, but if they stick to their door to door business model there is certainly room for bus transit from Phoenix to Peñasco. Some folks have family here or can otherwise be picked up at the bus station but others will want to be picked up at the airport or house and delivered to their resort- hotel here which is what Head Out does splendidly. To me it is worth the extra money to get from where I am to where I am going without another form of transport IE Taxi.
I saw this last week and think it would be a great addition if they can make it work financially. I tried to book something as a test but it looks like the deal hasn't been finalized yet.

I personally know Mike and Lynelle with Head Out and although I have never used their service I would agree with Russ. I see them coming or going almost every trip down so I know they're doing a fair amount of business. I personally like the idea of not having to wait at the border during high volume crossings...
For the out of towner (outside of Phoenix/Tucson): Flight into Sky Harbor/Head Out to RP still might be the best and only way to go right now aside from rental car.

Mike and Lynelle are also friends of Naomi and I and we will always promote (boost) their business anyway we can. The have a fantastic service, a need, they filled when no one else would. The are up to 4 owned vans I believe and they often rent 2 more for busy weekends. We send each other a fair amount of referrals (thats what we do in the boosterism business) it works for both of us. Great people those......great!

Pretty sure that's called networking and a critical part of business. Boosterism is putting your head in the sand in spite of fact or probable outcome.
A booster is someone who promotes a positive idea on something or someone or a place.
Definition of booster
: one that boosts: asa : an enthusiastic supporter
The anti Booster finds anything negative and promotes that even to the point of socially berating boosters
I will always be a booster in my translation of the word and if you have a problem with that then I hope your negativity comes around sooner than later to bite you. Oh man thats sounds so anti booster........I'll take the heat for that one!

By the way your definition is made up BS.....thanks for playing anyway
" Boosterism is putting your head in the sand in spite of fact or probable outcome." Curmudgeon: a bad-tempered or surly person. Come on Mex Joe- take it easy- you're too young to be this!

I was being sarcastic. Yes, clearly that isn't the definition of booster. Thank you.

The difference between Russ and I is that I see criticism as a means to do better whereas he sees criticism as a threat, negativity and or pessimism. I have never seen Russ respond favorably to ANY criticism posted about Rocky Point. Clearly we all love Rocky Point that is why we either live there, frequent often and partake in conversation on this forum. This goes without saying.
We are critical of certain things precisely because of our love for Rocky Point and or Mexico in general. I feel as though there are many credible and OBJECTIVE individuals on this forum and then there are others that are going to spit the same narrative for every critical comment posted. Yes, we get it. You love Rocky Point. Your "bullish" on Rocky Point. WE ALL ARE.
About the bad tempered part. Not sure what about my sentence leads you to believe I am bad tempered. I was pretty calm when I wrote it.
"The mayor explained to Keith Rosenblum from TAP" only bad thing about this story...Keith represents the good, the bad and the ugly (Liberty Cove...that scam chalked up one american suicide leaving a widow with 3 kids in Mesa)

We need a super hero called ANTI-BOOSTER MAN
His Powers:
Smells transmitters of bullshit ...teleports them to Mesa the bullshitters home planet
Sixth sense for figuring out the economic gain the booster receives for defending the status quo
Immune to threats both physical and psychological
You two see the negative in everything except whatever you agree with. Jerry talked about developing beach homes around Santo Tomas but mocks Russ making a living. It's just getting tiring how to take a nice thread and turn it bad.

Maybe he feeds you small fish at the mermaid market to get you to bark like a seal but he made a actual threat and you say nothing....no big deal, when trump wins we will all be on that nice bus headed south...dibs on a window!
I went from active poster, to frequent lurker, to occasional lurker, and I am now at the point that I'm about ready to quit this forum completely as well. I guess that I must be one of those "boosters" because I sell Sonoran Resorts condos. Funny though, I know almost all of the Buyers and have become friends with many of them, and 99% of them are HAPPY that they made their purchases. I don't lie about things. I do tend to weigh on the positive side instead of the negative side, but I also do that as a rule for life in general. Does that make me a "booster"? If so, then I am proud to be one. Any more, every post deteriorates into something negative. A few people have brought this medium into an almost constant dark place and I prefer the light. I'll check in once in awhile but, for the most part, I think that I'm finished as well. It's really too bad...
Well Jim, you are joining a bunch of fine folks who have done exactly as you. The purveyors of doom are relentless with their quest to enlighten those of lesser intelligence. They hijack threads and gorge their egos with blathering negativity. Actually their noise belongs in the rant section. Too bad, because on occasions they, in their weaker moments have been known to contribute some worthy information. I too will join you in the once in a while club. Shame, because this used to be a great place to visit. Thank God, Rocky Point still is.

Agree, Jim. Not sure why every thread deteriorates - but they seem to.
So some people are upset about other peoples negativity and are going to "quit the forum". Instead of just leaving since it's so unbearable, they decide to leave a negative post about the negativity before they are apparently leaving. Makes sense.
I have a better idea... How about adopting the old expression "kill them with kindness"? Ignore any posts you feel are too negative and just post as you see fit?
Thanks for the advice, Ben. I'm working on developing a positive way to explain my problem with negativity.
I find it remarkable that those who object to negativity and the purveyors of doom are better off to leave rather
than suggesting instead that those who seem to hate everything leave. I can understand the desire to improve
things even if it is through spewing garbage, but the volume of this barrage of negativity is unnecessary.
It permeates almost every post and then gets accentuated with political rhetoric just to make a final point.
Now we do have an alternative. If you feel the need to dominate a thread with venom, take it to the Rants and Raves
Section, that was established for just that purpose.
In the mean time, I'm going to pop open a Sol Beer from my ice box and start working on my positive thoughts and
rid myself of all that poisonous negativity.
To the curmudgeons, have a splendid evening and pleasant dreams.;)
Russ started this one...but Jim attack a straw man....feels good....
I have been threatened by boosters over the years multiple times with death, with arrest, with sabotage and with A good beating.in the end it was tthe whining that finally got to me.No more reading the slow witted comebacks.( not including you dry heat)...
on this day I officially retire from the forum.....

Jerry, there you go again! I've never been to the Mermaid market, so I can't be a trained seal. I reread Russ' post and he didn't start it. We're all sick and tired of your negativity on anyone posting anything. Get on the Caborca thread and start telling the Santo Tomas Lobos people the truth- how truly dangerous it is further south. Oh but you won't because you're a "booster"

This statement is exactly the kind of irresponsible posting that we talk about. Everything? Really? Everything? I mean seriously...

What are you talking about? Jerry is always informing us of the potential risks of heading down that way. Mostly making us aware that it is ok to head down to ST or Lobos but not to drive at night and dont go off exploring because you could possibly come across narco activity on the beach South of ST.

This is the biggest offense of all. The avid NON POSTER. Lurks from afar but never posts or creates threads. 95% of the members of this forum will never create a thread of any kind however, they LOVE to comment on the seemingly negative attacks on their beloved home port. They don't create content, contribute useful information or share experiences. They only come out of the wood work to comment on one of Jerry's posts. You see this all the time. Create a thread and watch how many people will read the thread and not comment. I've gotten into the 60's, 70 views without a comment. That's fine, you dont have to comment on a thread. It's your right. You have to understand though, that does not benefit anyone. This forum is only a draw if there is content to read. Again, content will mainly be made up of personal opinion. News and factual information does get posted but a majority of content on her is discussion based on certain topics. Topics that have 2 SIDES to the discussion. I could never feel how some of you feel. I dont know how it is even possible to feel this way but some of you would rather not contribute or even quit the forum because you dont agree or share someone else's viewpoint. My god. How childish. I would supposed you're a Trump supporter with that childish mentality.
Again with the generalizations. Every post is negative from some and every post "deteriorates into something negative". I disagree. I hope this sentiment doesnt make you want to quit the forum. I dont know what I would do if I couldn't read the Sonoran Sea news letter any longer. That was a joke. I used to enjoy it until you stopped. Then I couldnt anymore. I guess I'll blame Jerry for that. I used to enjoy the webcam and wind reading from your weather station at SKY... until I couldn't anymore. Fricking Jerry...
FYI, there is nothing wrong with being a booster. I dont understand where you guys get this from. Be a booster. Be whoever you want to be man. Nothing wrong with being a booster. We understand that you have to take boosters with a grain of salt though. Booster = Bias. Again, nothing wrong with that man. Keep doing you. We love you.
This is a discussion forum. People share THEIR OPINIONS for conversation or secondhand knowledge. It should NOT be censored in any way. Keep scrolling. You dont have to reply.

The forum was 10 fold better 6 years ago when almost every thread went political and we didn't have the Internet Police trying to censor every "negative" critical comment about things that were perceived as "assnine". You could say you didnt like something and 10 pages and a lot of content later you were still talking... Not anymore. This forum has turned soft. Lot of flaccid verg@ around here.
People are so quick to get butt hurt. The members here are so thin skinned its a joke. Simply replying to a thread titled "home port what are your opinions" can get you labeled as negative or an @sshole if you disagree with the home port. That is the crime here. That and not posting anything.
This forum has declined over the years because the content contributors were mostly people that have been run out of the forum by political correctness. For months on end there is nothing new to read on this forum from lazy members who choose to lurk from a far however, never contribute to anything meaningful or useful except to respond to Jerry's posts.
I started a thread entitled, Bring Happy Back and it got hit so hard that 12 pages later the thread had to be deleted. I bet the site hadn't seen that much traffic in years and the whole thread was simply about bringing HAPPY back. Content is king. No content = No forum. So my words to the avid non-posters, keep damaging the forum. Soon there will be no need to come here anyways.

He's right here... Instead of worrying about what Jerry is saying, why not just start a thread about your most recent trip. Maybe the restaurants you visited, activities you participated in, the weather, the fishing, etc... If you feel that Jerry jumps in and says something you don't like, just click the ignore button. Content keeps a forum going, not complaining about one member.
We are unable to have a normal thread without his rants. He's against cruise ships, only to find out he went on one in Norway- 500 passengers. I could go one, but will move on.

Then just ignore him, or even better, click the ignore button. Don't acknowledge his posts if you don't find them useful.
