White Buildings

We were staying at Las Conchas this weekend, and when the tide was high, we would see white structures to the SW that looked like buildings. When the tide was low, we couldn't see them. Can anyone explain this, it is driving me nuts.

It is what Bird Island looks like during strange atmospheric conditions, they are really just 3 small peaks in the sea of Cortes'
