I had the opportunity to take a group of bikers out to the visitors center Friday the 11th. We had a nice size group 52 individuals in English and 10 individuals in Spanish. It was great fun but that's all I do during Rally week I am stocked up and stay clear of the crowds, and man there are crowds this year. Here's a too long video someone made of our trip Friday
It was a huge turnout. I went last year as well, very noticeably bigger crowd this year. And Calle 13 was a mess at night trying to get back to the condos, people filled the streets. I practically pushed my bike the whole way on that street mooching beers, it was awesome.
The border was a whole other story. We purposely left at 7:45 am for the border, got there about 8:35, backup well over a quarter mile. Our group was on bikes so we kinda zig zagged through the cars knowing there would be dedicated lanes just for bikes. And once we got there, like 4 lanes for bikes only, riding two abreast in each lane. Took us about 30 min to cross. Some of the guys in our group stayed at the Mayan Palace and were about an hour behind us, that mistake cost them 3 hour wait time, from what I'm told.
