After 3 failed repairs of a new Rheems propane boiler I decided to switch to electric. The repairs were attempted locally without testing the warrantee. Have a perfect location, power and water lines available. Install went smoothly with me anticipating a warm shower with the cooler weather. (I don't use the boiler in the summer.) Water warmed up a bit, then no hot water. Breaker is OK, check the boiler in the outside laundry room and water is pouring out the bottom of the tank. A seal at the heating element has failed. We remove the tank and take it to Kuroda where it was purchased. Manager, after inspecting the obviously wobbly seal, Says take it back and connect it all up and video tape the leaking and bring the video here, WHAT ???? Come on just take it and give us a new one. Can't do that we just sell them. Ok we comply, take the tank back, connect up the water and video the spray . Manager views the video and says OK a Rheems rep will come and inspect it in the next 48 hours to decide what to do, repair or replace.
I fully anticipate the Mfg rep to want to send it to Mexico City for repair and assure us it will be repaired and returned to us within 30 days. That certainly is a reasonable solution to selling a defective product.
Forget Rheems warrantee and never buy at Kuroda on Josefa. Unfortunately they were the only place that had what I wanted, simple electric, 110 or 220, 20 or 30 gallon hot water heater.
Get ya a turkey fryer and a propane tank. You can make all the hot water ya want. Of course, the neighbors might be a bit intrigued seeing ya dance around naked out in the yard while ya take your morning shower.
I have three of the Rheem tankless propane water heaters installed and have never had a problem with them.
sum up: Maintenance frequency completely depends on location and whether the water heater has scale detection software. It occurs on a case-by-case basis, and there is no set schedule but I do mine every two years in Mexico
If you do get an error message and must descale or flush your tankless water heater, kits are available online to do it yourself.A 60-minute flush, using a white vinegar as the descaling material is better than that CLR-type shit....it can be harsh on the copper heat exchanger within the water heater
The truth of the matter of heating domestic water in Sonora is that a simple passive system would work fine for most uses. If I had the resources I would have used the failed propane heater tank to make a passive solar heater.
Removed the heating element that was leaking at the seal. Now remember this was purchased as a brand new unit. The heating element removed was trash. Corroded and blown out. Think someone needed an element and switched out for a piece of sh*t. Water is hot.

That sucked Roberto, but now that you fixed it everything is golden. Look on the bright side. You have hot water and you fixed it and didn't count on the place you bought it to do anything.
Your warranty is 2 and 2
Well screw Kuroda, I'll never go there hearing this BS. I bought a gas HWH 4 years ago at Muebles Coloniales. Also a new range and refrigerator the past few years. Nice people and always a pleasure to deal with.
Pretty sad this is the last post for a forum about Rocky Point...such a lack of info on this forum because or=f the bugaboos.....but seriously, water heater problem...big news sad....maga lol
I'll spice things up a bit........... I flipped the breaker on my water heater right when I left two weeks ago!
Turned off the water valve as well!
So there!
First weekend in December we will experience some dramatic tides. I'll be tickling Blue Crabs from the sand and digging out Piddocks from the clay beds down near Desemboque.

Raptor got stuck in that foamy sand just north of desemboque last week...nice young guy from Phoenix...the fishermen pulled him out....
Yes that strip has some really deep loose sand. I let the tires down to 10 psi. when making that run. Also, the daily high tides bring the water right up to the cliff base there so plan ahead!

The NEWS that went over your grumpy head was the crappy service at KURODA. I thought helpful info for other owners.
Sorry I am boring..never did anything that required a bong or any other light on fire device

Be nice Jerry- I love reading Russ' posts which are relevant to Penasco!
Russ would defend Chechnya if he was driving the blue hair van there! right now Chechnya is safer than Baja. We on the other hand are looking pretty good in Sonora....
pretty much team vinegar for sure...but our lives near the crummy carnival that never leaves (Rocky Point) sure look good compared to baja....4 guys hung from overpass headed to major airports this week while we are pretty peaceful

I felt blessed this past weekend in Miramar, despite the monster that is the Mayan Palace I could walk out on the beach and see not a soul in either direction. Still amazing me to me to have a private experience like that.

the one good thing about the wrong headed Homeport is they put it by the Pigeon Coops instead of the Mayan..sort of like when my dog craps in one corner my yard insted of spreading the mess...
