Saturday the 22nd of September a bunch of people got together and did a beach clean up on Sandy Beach close to the home port pier (you know the home port that doesn't exist yet). the organizers were Shandra from Rocky point 360 and the current president of Peñascos Rotary club and Jose Flores from the BooBar and Oscar Preciado from Del Mar charters. It was the first event for this group and we were surprised at the massive turnout. We had a group of Scouts and the Juvenile Patrol who are local kids doing good stuff and we had a group who used this event as an excuse to come down from Surprise AZ to help out. It was cool to see so many picking up trash on the beach but add to that we had kayaks in the water and 13 scuba divers under water. I don't have the numbers on how much trash was picked up but we had a lot picked up just on the beach. Check out the VIDEO about it if you like.20180922_100220 res.jpg

We've stopped picking up shells on our walks, and now only pick up garbage. The biggest offenders? Plastic water bottles. I bring back to Tucson two garbage bags full to recycle of mostly plastic water bottles. It's great exercise, and our beach looks better. The Swedes have a fitness craze for this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/inspired-life/wp/2018/02/23/plogging-is-the-swedish-fitness-craze-for-people-who-want-to-save-the-planet-its-making-its-way-to-the-u-s/
