Guaymas creates artificial reef for scuba diving

Over the last 30 yr in the NW Wa and SW Bc we have witnessed the sinking of 3 ships for the purpose of creating artificial reefs. They should be carefully cleaned of anything toxic. What we saw from our boat nearby was a blast tearing out the hull, but there's always another way to sink a boat !

When I was much younger I did wreck penetration diving, sometimes pretty deep, in New Zealand, Gulf of Mexico, Florida, etc. Its a blast when done correctly. But get ready for the fatalities in a vacation destination without a strong technical diving community. The dive operators are paid to take you to the dive site. Coming back is optional.
