YUMA DESAL PLANT: The interesting thing about this article, say's the diversion canal is responsible for the Alto Golfo Cienega. A couple weeks ago at the SAGARPA stop at El Doctor, I asked the inspector where the entry to the Cienega was, so we pulled in, it looked abandoned and the road was in bad shape so we didn't enter.. https://www.abc15.com/news/region-central-southern-az/yuma/why-an-arizona-desalination-plant-has-been-idle-for-30-years Alto Golfo Cienega

I read an article a couple years ago, about the 200 species of birds that visit or live there it mentioned if the town El Golfo would clean itself up there would be thousands of bird watcher's coming to the area.. They used to have guides there, but I'm not sure if they are still working or not..

Sad, El Golfo at one time was wonderful. Not so much now.

Before the highway was built, it was a 6 or 7 hour journey from RP to El Golfo, this was everbody's 1st stop after checking in at the Las Conchas Hotel.. https://www.yelp.com/biz/el-capitan-cantina-el-golfo-de-santa-clara El Capitan

Yes.. https://es.restaurantguru.com/El-Capitan-El-Golfo-de-Santa-Clara#gallery probably was one of few places, where a forklift operator or garbage truck driver and a millionaire can become best of friends... everybody is dirty as hell from running in the desert or along the beaches in their off road vehicles...

The cops there are still the worst in Sonora.

The black shit eater moscas there are still the worst in Sonora.

The bolsas of week old almejas are still the worst in Sonora.

There are no "camarones fresca" available there since they closed off the upper gulf to commercial fishing.

We haven't stopped there since the Coastal Hwy was completed.

Thanks to Hey-Sus the new highway bypasses the dump.

The filthy dump used to be known as Yuma's Beach with less than an hour drive from the San Luis crossing.

Just saying............
