Hi, of course, I am a "newbie" to your forum, but not a "newbie" to Mexico and the border, having been on it since 1963. Wow, that's old, isn't it? I have lived in Tijuana, Mexicali, and worked actively in Ensenada, Tecate, Agua Prieta, Juarez and Puerto Palomas, Chihuahua. It is one thing to love a place, and we do love these places to go to them, and it is another to be conscious about what is happening there. I don't know the issues with Jerry, but I would say that there is nothing wrong about being conscious. It is self-preserving, hopefully. So if you will accept a vote from a "newbie" on the forum, I will vote "no".

Oh, forgot to mention, that my family really loves Puerto Penasco. We just spent a week there and will be back a month in early fall. If all goes well, and we can manage it, we will be coming back regularly. But believe me, I am reading all the news in Spanish and English and am very conscious of what is the level of violence and comparing it to other areas of the border. It still is very, very much less violence than all other areas.

I'm firmly opposed on voting to ban any user. This is not a democracy, it's an internet forum. You don't like what somebody has to say, then put them on your Ignore list. It really is just that simple.

If we start banning for things like assinine "sigs", (sorry Sub....but it is), then we will have to start banning for things like continually pulling a post off topic, or banning Forum members who don't live in/visit Penasco, or are continually making assinine posts/pushing other member's "buttons" (the "dawg's" of the world), or those on here who have a business related agenda whenever they post (definitely not referring to Rosy!!!), or those continually bringing in ther liberal political viewpoints on every post....or being ex-New Yorkers.....:rofl:

Hello Janetandclint, the subject isn't about Jerry, but another poster named Submarine. As far as I know, it hasn't been decided to settle this by vote, but just in case, please use your vote carefully...read his posts and then decide.

Personally, I'd just as soon he be gone. Then we can finally give someone else a chance to be our bigot-with-a-political-agenda-and-nothing-to-contribute-other-than-controversy-and-word-twisting.

I don't think he should be banned for any of the reasons you cite. Everyone on here shares. We exchange stories and experiences, bring concerns and insight and like you say, also throw in a smattering of our opinions, agendas and personal tastes. The problem with Submarine is that he does none of the above. I resent the fact that he is utilizing this forum and not even pretending to contribute. He thinks he's slick, but lately I've tested him more than once. Notice that when he runs one of his "polls" by us he doesn't even share where he stands. There is no contribution whatsoever. Tyler's point that this forum is for those who like or are at least interested in Rocky Point is a valid one. I'm not convinced Submarine qualifies. Frankly, I think we're being played...

I've always thought of the sub as the consummate "ugly American", who's self centered interests is all that matter's to him.

Submarine cannot change any posts made by anybody. Only two people can do that - Tyler and myself. And we generally only do it when it's requested by the user. If you are saying he copied and pasted a post, then changed it to fit his own purposes, or his signature line, or whatever, he did so of his own accord.

Nobody puts words in anybody's mouth around here. There's usually so many coming out that we don't need to.

As to Rosy's point - as soon as we ban Submarine for his opinion, someone else will rise to the occasion and take his place. Rosy, you've been around long enough to see this happen (I won't dredge up a list of User names).

As I said, if you have issues with somebody's opinion, put them on Ignore. When virtually everybody on the forum has them on Ignore, that user is basically talking to themselves by even bothering to post.

On Edit: The reason (any user name here) is getting to you is because you let him/her. Do you not realize that is exactly what he/she wants to happen?

There was a consensus some time ago that I didn't have to call myself trailer trash if I slept under them and not in them. Now they just call me, and as I prefer, just plain old trash.:-D

Your point being???? How many of us do a cut and paste from somewhere on the web and don't properly give "credit"? He didn't put quotes around the whole sig with his "addition" and attribute it to Rosy..... Yeah, I know Rosy called him on it....

These people despise that RP tourism has grown in size in recent years & that there are now thousands of upscale condos. Rosy....you may be better off just leaving it alone....those of us who know where he got most of the material in his sig (probably just the "regulars") also know that the last part was added by him. You're right, but it's a touchy subject with me when I've had to write something that is personally traumatic to have it used that way. Glad it disappeared. No doubt he'll soon figure out another way to earn 15 more minutes of attention. Arrgh...

We all have opinions and even though there are great degrees of differences at times, for this to be a Rocky Point forum, you would think that the minimum qualification to be a contributing member would be to have an honest, accurate and honorable view towards the well being of Rocky Point. Submarine does not even come close to this criterion. Kennny, Rosie and others who have posted to get rid of him have my vote. (didn't even have to break away from Fox News to post that one!)

I took it last week (one day stay to buy mesquite lumber from a ranch near Tubutama) .It took 3- 3.5 hours to ge tto Santo Tomas...road was ok....monsoons will change that soon... no bullet holes..no problem!

A few miles North of Santo Tomas,5 or 6 real big houses on the beach,sort of awkward site plan,i heard the Municipality of Caborca had some issues with the development plan(they got ahead of themselves) all and all i would really take a hard look at it myself but generally think it's an ok place. i have some pictures of it if you want.

We had been getting insurance for the exact days that we were going to Mexico and oh, my what a dumb thing to do, I figured out just two trips one of one week and one of two weeks would have almost paid for a year. But live and learn and will never do that again.

Something just dawned on me. I didn't read this thread yesterday..............I just chose not to. I did, however, post a new thread asking about vegetables. I got a response from two people. I know vegetables is not an interesting topic, but it seems to me that unless you have a question about "the safety" or "the crime" or "whatever" in that catagory, you don't get a lot of responses....................ask a question in that category and everyone wants to put in their two cents worth and then a whole lot more. Seriously, what's up with that?? I'm just saying "can't we please talk more about the pleasant things of RP?" (I know, vegies.......pleasant??) But I think you all get my drift.....................

And, btw, I'm not trying to bury my head in the sand.............................because it's much more fun to build sand castles with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was VERY surprised that he bailed! He always fought for what he stood for, even if it was wrong. I wish him no ill will and I hope he's all right......... But, I won't miss the drama.

I totally agree with you Stuart. We'd be sheep if we all had the same opinion. Personally, I think its only a matter of time before the drug cartels take some American Family for revenge. The police in S Az have gotten notice that the drug cartels are after them for their latest drug find. Its going to get uglier before it gets better
