Hi- Got a little dental problem and I'm looking for a good dentist. Does anyone know if Dr. Arturo Yamamoto is still in town? I see he was recommended highly. If not, any recommendation is welcome, I live in town. Thanks!

Smile Designer... Dr. Sergio Lizarraga... just above the Tequila Factory on the same floor as Rosie's Insurance... I have been using him for many years and he is painless...

You can also try Dr. Angela Acuna (Tice)....Rocky Smiles....about a block off Fremont past the Pemex station (the first one, not the one by Los Conchas). She (or one of her associates) sees patients even on Sundays..... A couple of times that I went by Dr. Lizarraga's office, he was not in, but he was reachable by phone.....

I also used Dr. Lizarraga for several years. I agree he is a good dentist, but his prices kept getting higher. I now use Dra. Lupita Monge in Los Algodones.

Los Algodones is just across the border from Yuma, AZ

The nice thing about Dr. Acuna (Rocky Smiles), she has her own lab for crowns, etc...right next door to her offices.

The other nice thing is she is about 3 blocks from my house where you will come to pick up your new puppy !!
Rhino
I hate to be negative but I had a bad experience with Rocky Smiles. They put a crown on a cracked tooth. There was significant pain pressing it on and it never went away. I ended up with an implant...bad deal all around. She should have seen the crack but didn't because she didn't x-ray it before proceeding. I don't know if that was a once in a while kind of thing or SOP. Nothwithstanding, I would and have had dental work performed in Penasco since, but not at Rocky Smiles.

Rhino....I won't dispute that you may have had a problem with Rocky Smile.....

However, I had a crown put on several years ago...probably 9-10, by an old time Navy dentist who is located behind the La Curva restaurant. The tooth was a back molar, and it was cracked (vertical crack). In the states, the dentist would have extracted, and it probably would have required an implant. This tooth and crown are still going strong!!! (knock on wood!!). So each case has to be taken individually.....

With Rocky Smiles, I would feel comfortable having Dr. Acuna working on me....but not necessarily one of her associates....she did some work on my mom, but was not the most gentle, although the work was acceptable.

I have a tooth right now that has a crown over a crack and when I scuba dive and it expands it sometimes lets me know it is there. This is one of the things that I need to get fixed when I come down and by the way it was a dentist right here in Litchfield Park. As with Rhino this dentist didnt xray either. I complained and he said it was fine and nothing was wrong. Maybe I will talk to them on Tuesday when I come down

Does anyone have recent experience with a RP dentist. Reading the dentist thread much of the info is pretty dated.

Thanks for any help.

I recommend Dr. Socorro. She worked on Jerry last year and all is better than fine. He had a deep cleaning and she added another tooth to his bridge after she had to pull one of his and a bunch of other things and it was under 200. I googled all of it when I got back and it would have cost 1200 here. She's very reasonable, too. You will, however, have to take an interpreter. Jerry was very relieved that I was there because she would tell me what she was gonna do next and I would tell Jerry. There were no surprises. I speak sorta ok Spanish. She has a couch for family and interpreters to sit on so you are not back there all by yourself. Her office is clean and she is very nice.

I use Dr. Lizarraga, I like him- speaks English, very clean, does a good job. If you need a root canal, he sends you to this specialist who is amazing. Lizarraga, Sergio DDS - (638) 383 7474 / cell 044-638 385 1158. He's in the Tequila Factory Building on the second floor.

Need recommendation for dental veneers in Rocky Point

Has anyone had any experience with getting dental veneers in Rocky Point? Good, Bad, Cost . . . . ? My dentist in Phoenix I need to get them on quite a few of my teeth due to hairline fractures -- not just cosmetics. At around $700-$1200 each here I'm afraid I might just "crack up" trying to afford them to protect my teeth. :aagh:

I had a crazed bungee cord smack me in the mouth and take out a front tooth of mine and went to Dr. Arturo Yamamoto, he did 8 veneers for me  at a 1/3 rd of the cost as in the states. Great work and more than reasonable. His AZ # is 602-416-1336
TICO-T
Dr. Ernesto Grijalva on Fremont Blvd. 638-383-3434. He's a dentist and oral surgeon and fantastic! Very fair prices. His assistant is Mario. Beautiful office, very modern and he owns the building.
Tia Maria
Thank you, Estero & TICO-T! I'm feeling muy calmer about this now.

How long did the procedure take? Any complaints about sensitivity afterwards?
wildtoucan
Yes, they are very happy with results...lightend them up 8 shades and they do not have any sesitivity. Was $65 for 45 minutes. Was nice as they could walk from the condo.

Thanks for the recommendation. When I'm down there in September I'm making an appointment!

Dr. Lizarraga is my favorite, too. I'm one of those skittish, nervous types when it comes to sitting still in the dental chair. All my life it's been a problem for me. Dr Lizarraga is wonderful. I don't know whether he's more expensive than others...I've been to both Dr Angela and Dr Grijalva previously...he's probably not the highest-priced or the lowest-priced. My new smile is all Dr Lizarraga's handiwork. Wish I'd done it years ago!headshot.jpg
