Just When You Thought It Was Safe...

This just in from mi amigo Tadeo that runs the Bibi Fleet in Mazatlan:

We caught a 521 lb – 10’ 8’’ Shortfin Mako Shark yesterday!

It took us three hours with a 9/0 Sennator and 80lb test.

For us and the people locally has been a huge thing!


That, my friends, is a HUGE catch anywhere!!!

Thats a biggen, has anyone landed any big sharks in RP?

Every now and then, somebody will hook up a biggie (I know Ric had a huge mako hook-up last year), but they are near impossible to land. I think Ric had his on for over an hour.

Why is that, boat size or chew the leader?

Generally the leader. Usually aren't fishing for them and don't have a cable leader on, just mono.

You never know whats in the water, where ever you go.
