:?: I will be driving from Penasco to San Diego next Friday. I will take the new highway to El Golfo then north to Hwy. 2. I will not be towing my 5th wheel. What is the easiest/best crossing to take back into the U.S.?
From El Golfo, you head straight north to San Luis del Rio Colorado. Theres a port of entry there, its open 24 hours a day but its usually busy. If the border wait is busy you can head west of Mex Hwy 1 to Mexicali. There are two ports there, but the streets of Mexicali to each Port is confusing if you have never been there before...Mexicali is a big city.
Apart from the 'adventure' of driving on the new road many experienced travellers prefer heading north to Gila Bend to pick up interstate 8 to San Diego.
