nets at the 51

talking to a friend that just got back from Isla De La Guardia he said he saw about 25 shrimp boats at the 51 miles reef, one of them seemed to have his net caught on a rock, boat kept going in circles,that might explain the lack of fishing for all of us, these guys catch everything :mad:that happens to come into thier nets,

the net boats, do they put the fish back or keep them too?

This is fishing season for the shrimp boats and they are going to harvest as many fish as they possibly can.

The last time I was on the 51 there was a mothership with pangas longlining and netting.

Some of the laid off construction workers at Santo Tomas have started fishing again.The mines,agriculture and the coastal Highway have hired others.Jobs off the water are the answer.When the next housing boom starts hiring locals first should be policy.
