Very similar conditions (besides issues with the boat itself) led to the Sunset Cruiser incident last month, so can we assume all in the port have learned their lesson and there won't be any sunset cruises heading out tonight?
We moved the glass table tops inside. Hear thumping of something outside but really don't want to go out to look - took two of us to get the sliding door closed the last time. Choppy seas. And sand is blasting across Choya Bay. Good day to be inside.
I just checked the Sonoran Spa webcam and I saw a naked guy fishing for Cyclops Shark. A monkey with purple hair was following a Carnival Cruise Ship on a jetski in the background. I have to lay of this Chronic!

smoking chronic is not going to make you see things (just hungry and lazy). what you are talking about is more like shrooms. I assume you are just quoting something from a movie

Nope, he's just running the same joke into the ground, seems to be a theme over the last few weeks. Although, there is a Warren Zevon lyric buried in there but at this point it's unrecognizable.
Naomi and I just drove the gauntlet from West Phoenix to Penasco tonight and I gotta tell you it is no night to be out on land , air or sea. 29 years of travel to this part of the world in every sort of weather and I have never had such a hard trip. It was a white out dust storm between Gila Bend and Ajo. It was so bad that the BP south of Gila Bend closed shop at about 7:00. The BP was also closed at the point south of Why. Customs in Lukeville AZ side had me tied up for about 10 seconds and entry into Mexico even though I got the red light and I had a lot of stuff on board let me go in a few seconds. It was a cold windy hairy trip all the way from Phoenix. The sand dunes forming on the Sonoyta to Penasco road were incredible, I have never seen it there. We drove most of the way slow slow with our emergency flashers on, right around the low cost homes on the right just outside of town by Alemans art village it was pitch black and no sight at all it was dangerous to be sure. Got in at 9:00 and it took almost 30 minutes to get the equipment put away so much stuff flying around in the air. Safely inside we realized we had left the main bathroom window open......looks like we will need the 4x4 quad to get us to the toilet tonight........Be safe out there my friends
On edit it did rain last night so it washed all the sand off my roof and it is beautiful outside today calm and warm just like we like it!
I can imagine the trip down as being incredibly bad what with the high winds and all.
The Sea was a rough as I've ever seen it yesterday late afternoon. Huge breakers far off shore rolling in and crashing into the Malecon. I thought I saw Jerry out there with his surfboard ! Nothing over the seawall though. Sandy Beach was under the assault of constant monsters. Wonder how the Fiesta Cruiser fared, I'll have to check today.
I got a new appreciation of the protected harbor as I drove around it after leaving the Malecon. Shrimp boats tied as usual, no bobbying or rocking, one motoring across the harbor to reposition itself with no problem. What a contrast from the malestrom at the malecon.
Just checked the webcam...and it's "offline"....wonder if the wind got it last night?????
The last time it was offline was when Phx was hit with its last major Haboob (dust storm), so that makes sense.
Glad to hear you got home OK, Russ! The 106.1 FM internet radio player is working at the moment, so hopefully you guys will be online at noon for today's Rocky Point Ramblings!
I don't know how high the wind speed got but I have never seen it so bad. We closed two of the slides on the 5th wheel because the awnignings on them were flaping so hard. When I took the dog out to go I could hardly walk against the wind and when I turned around to go back I almost fell over. I even had sand inside the jeep this am and it had been closed up tight. There was stuff all over the park from what had been left out by other RV people. Beautiful this am but we had to leave for home
Be back next Thur.
The camera is back up. The wind did a number on quite a few things around town. Broken windows, billboards down and big sand dunes across the roads that became harder to remove due to the rain. Just a couple days of cleanup and we'll be good as new again...
BTW, I would like to upgrade the camera that we use for the live view so that we get a clearer picture. If anyone has experience, I could use some advise or recommendations. May even be interested in adding cameras at our other resorts or making it viewer controlled (pan/zoom). I've seen some good ones online but don't know how they set it up or what hardware they use. Send me a PM if you like. Thanks.

Hey Russ,
It is a little out of Manny's area of expertise. He set up the one that we are using now and he did a great job using the equipment that we already had. I've talked with him about upgrading the camera but he really doesn't know where to go for that either. He can set it up and run it if I can find him the right hardware.
I didn't mean to derail the topic here. Just thought I'd throw it out in case we have any experts watching.
Jim...have Manny go online and check out Fry's Electronics.....if he finds something that looks like it will work...I'd be glad to pick it up and bring it down
you get what you pay for....something that will stand up to rp weather, vandal resistant, give a good picture,be remote controllable will end up costing you a grand....or you can buy the cheap ones like frys has and just keep changing them out...not sure which is the best way to go...
I agree and the cost really isn't a factor (within reason). I just want to find something that will give a much clearer picture. Being controllable would be neat but isn't a must.
A couple of the articles that I saw on the topic indicated that you could use a video camera....get high def and a good lens...just need to find one that lets you stream....if you put it outside, you'll definitely need some kind of enclosure....
