Just read where we had a 4.7 earthquake this morning at about 5:30am. El Gato started in about 3:30am - determined to get us up. I finally gave in and went out to the couch about 5am at which point I figured he would settle down like he always does. Not this time, he just kept at it. By 5:30am he was on top of me yelling at me. Then curled up and went to sleep. I never felt a thing. Maybe I was just so glad that d--m cat had stopped protesting something. Turns out he appeared to know what he was yowling about.
That cat is worth money..maybe rename him EEWS(earthquake early warning system)

I can rember the earthquakes when I lived in Southern California. Typically about 5 min before a quake and all the way to the event all natural sounds would become quiet. Until you got used to it the quiet seemed very strange.
