My dear and departed fishing friend Spotts Willis who fished out of Cholla Bay told me he witnessed Killer Whales near RP once. These pics were shot in Loreto:

Killer whales put on rare and amazing show for boaters off Mexico

I have encountered orcas off Rocky Point on a couple of occasions. Also off San Carlos. These are some of the best orca pics I've ever seen, taken by my friend Fernando of Catch-22 Sportfishing in San Carlos. I'm sure there were some soiled britches on the Catch-22 that day!! Surfing the wake!

Amazing! I would love to see that. Just seeing the mountains in the background of those pics makes me miss San Carlos even more than before. I haven't been down there since 2001 - next Spring I need to sacrifice an RP trip and head to San Carlos instead.

In 1989 we found a 12 foot Killer whale dead on the beach near the 2nd estuary. We went back the next week after a winter storm and it was gone.
