Well, this was a fun and SAFE weekend in Rocky Point. We went down in the daylight (for once) on Friday to our private hotel in Encanto for some sun and beachness. We decided to adventure into some new places to shake things up a bit. FUN is all that happened. That and eating too much (again). Among the places, things we saw were: Our first visit to meet one of the nicest people in Rocky Point, the proprietess of Off The Beach Workshop and Sea-Debris Boutique, Naomi. There were some great items for sale and there were two ladies lazing the day away with shellbox projects and one of them just didn't feel up to gettin gaudy (thank gaud..) that day. Met the stars of The Rosie & Russ show (Rocky Point Ramblings), (Saturday 12-2, 106.1 FM), for english speaking chatter and great tunes.

Sought out Latitude 31 and its environs (bar), and Avirl made a new lil' friend in Jenna who practiced spanish together. I vote that the best pico de gallo is served here. Kitchen was not too busy, but had two chefs on board and it was spotless. Plenty of staff on hand. Met the owner, Mike, used the provided wifi whilst there. We also met up with Desquentos Locos owner and promoter. Nice to chat with RussBus and Rosie. Down through the malecon, up through the port, and on the way to see some Kentucky Derby. Our friends we were supposed to meet up with had Doggie Dental challenges and it would be hours before we saw them again...ran smack into a parade and saw enthusiastic locals waving from homemade floats and the band was making noise. Nice to see all the kids smiling as if their town was so dangerous! Went out to view the newest version of WalMart at Bodega Aurrera. Kind of Puerto Penasco MX Siete de Mayo 242.jpga cross between a food city and smart & Final... Not too bad, prices seemed reasonable, but not enough deli items (salsa frescas! I guess everyoPuerto Penasco MX Siete de Mayo 165.jpgne makes their own..).

Then Up to the El Capitan on the hill for sunset and drinkees on the highest bar view in the city. Scored a view table Puerto Penasco MX Siete de Mayo 239.jpgand listened to a six table rehearsal dinner getting wasted and screechy. How nice, they paused to apologize. Balloonman showed up and everyone Puerto Penasco MX Siete de Mayo 201.jpgparticipating screeched even louder. I was Surprised how inexpensive it was. The place was packed with revelers and quiet diners on the inside. Puerto Penasco MX Siete de Mayo 100.jpg

Next, Down to the Azul Marlin for just that. Great smoked fish! The garlic shrimps were nice, but tiny (hate that). Enjoyed the mariachis on the veranda (the first set asked for more money...) and chatted with owner Homero about the atributes of Shiraz wines, the state of the arte of Puerto Penasco and his own history. Our server was young but enthusiatic. It didn't hurt the tip when his espousa e bebe paraded through to come pick him up. What a gorgeous babba. Cute as a button. We ended our day at the Thrify Crema Helado so we could force more food into us, but it was worth it.

Fatigue set in and we crawled our way back to Playa Encanto, saited and spent. Very nice day and weather last Saturday. Would should could had a espresso before heading back! Hope you enjoyed our day as much as we did. :blah:
