Leave the shells for the craps.

Don't forget to bring down some warm coats and blankets. Beans and rice too.

Shop in at least one small, locally owned store each trip!
Pick up your trash (and someone else's) at the beach.
Smile and say hello to the locals, you'll always get one back.

Don't Forget to...
Share your experience here with the good folks back home.
Remember that most of you are a visitor in a foreign country.
Do you part for the environment and purchase beer with returnable bottles... preferably from CoronaGirl's store on Juarez.
Listen to GoPenasco Radio for weather and tide info along with great classic rock.

Don't forget to smile
Don't assume someone will stop at a red light or stop sign.

I especially like the Dont forget to explore!

Dont forget to get lost in a long conversations with new or old friends, time is not always money!
mis2810
Don't forget to relax and appreciate that you are there, remember what keeps you coming back, and savor every moment.
If you live there full time, don't forget how lucky you are, and remember the rest of us that are still trying to figure out how to join you full time!

Dont ask what your Rocky Point can do for you, ask what you can do for your Rocky Point............ Jerry, don't tell me about the new ISR tax about to clean our clocks, dont say its true. or is it ISR? I dont want to tell you either about a new raise of the transfer tax.

Don't haggle to the point of being obnoxious with beach vendors-that $5.00 you save that you'll brag to your friends at home about will soon be pissed away on a $5.00 fancy coffee at Starbucks. The extra $5.00 for the vendor will make a difference to them!
Terry C
Just keep in mind, some people including biz owners spend what they make. In good times people spend all their makes and in bad times they have no makes to spend....

Using the dont word. It don't make sense. If its an addition to the ISR, its already over 30 percent, I think I would start dumping, all I could before it takes effect. I hope they hurry up and sell Pemex, that will free up a little money.

Don't Drink and Drive in Mexico, You Might Hit A Bump And Spill Your Drink.

Don't:

1) Eat oysters during months without an "R" in the name (Mayo, Junio, Julio, Agusto)

2) Haggle over a matter of pennies in the exchange rate- life is short and time is precious

3) Pay 100% up front (ever)

4) Forget to turn off your boat's batteries when you take it out of the water.

5) Miss the chance to see the sun come up from far offshore at least once

6) Feed the Sea lions

7) Hog all the Flan

8) Squeeze the Charmin...

#5 above is one if my favorites. How bad is it that some nights I can't wait to go to sleep just so I can wake up early, sit on the patio, sip my coffee and watch the sunrise?

P.S. This thread makes up for all the BS this weekend with Happy. Thanks for starting it Jerry!

hmm let's have some don'ts from the dark side:
  • even take for granted the slim beautiful woman at the dark bar late at night that really likes you is really a woman
  • ever complain to the drug dealer in the bar bathroom your coke has been stepped on or he might step on you
  • park the F250 near Twin Dolphin...Roberto needs a new truck
  • ever ask your teenager what she had to do to get all those cheap strands Chino beads
  • light fireworks in your hand larger than your little toes
  • tell the bartender the margarita sucks unless that is your last one

Authors note. None of these things has happened to me
Kenny
No matter what lures they say the fish are hitting, don't forget the bait!

Come on Jer. That last F250 you parked there was an absolute beater. Can't you do a little better. It didn't last a month.

I think he's saying that if you don't give away what you have, you can't keep what you've got.

Ha! Trust me, I know that more than a few don't have the faintest idea what that means.

This forum fucks me up ... why you ask? Well there are some great things that can happen via online networking but there are a lot of things that can soooooo drive people away (both good and bad) .... but I have to raise my hand and say as a "liberal" trying to make a difference in peoples lives & meet some like minded people with the same vision or vibe ... I hesitate to post much on here because I am not the "average" person (probably by some people here an abomination)... but I REALLY do try to make a difference in others lives by the PIF values my parents and family raised me .... my life is good and I don't need to probably worry one **** about anyone else but ... LISTEN.. this is where I know I was raised right and have a soul .. I CHOOSE to give back and PIF! I thank my parents, grandparents, and my midwestern upbringing that gave me a sense of community where ever it be! Many times Joe & I are not welcomed into a community because of our life .. but that has never stopped us from trying to make the world a better place than we had/have to live through. And I thank not only my parents but the pioneers and visionaries that have given me the hope and strength to still try to be the best soul I can be irregardless of the hate ... I choose to be better and have been raised to be better.... #my2cents #behuman #makeadifference #thinkaboutit #haterswillstillhate ... BUT its all good I know I tried my best when my day is done... *steps off my soap box and leaves it at that*

Intolerance is nothing more than the manifestation of closed-mindedness wielding it's immense power over our soul.

Good... then YOU go fishing with HAPPY! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

While I like to consider myself open-minded (at least in the sense of I always give anyone I meet the benefit of the doubt until they prove otherwise), some people are just jerks. Leave them behind, don't waste your time. There's too many good people out there that can enrich your life instead of darkening it.
mexicoruss
dont waste your time on negativity.

Don't Atv or jeep farther than you can walk back for help. Kayak...replace walk with paddle

I think everyone has something positive to contribute... It's just that some (many?) tend to shield it behind too many layers of unattractive behaviors and attitudes. (things other people declare as "negative", but which I simply call "not my particular brand of living" :-D )

I agree completely that willingly spending a full day in the company of such incompatible attitudes and beliefs, in the confined space of a fishing boat, can be highly corrosive to one's peace of mind. :ugeek:

Hahahah... For some reason, I just remembered a personal "Don't" that I had to share with my 9 year old back in 2004 when she was still in diapers:

"Don't eat the sand, honey.... it's blechy"
PitiquitoRosy
That thing you think you maybe shouldn't? Well, DON'T! That little warning-voice exists in your head for a reason.
GV Jack
Don't just eat the food without really giving thanks for all our blessings.

I'm thankful for a good long and mostly healthy life, my wonderful family and
the many friends I've made as a result of this forum. I'm thankful for the opportunity
to visit Rocky Point and to get to know the friendly and warm Mexican people I've met.

And I'm thankful the police let me out in time for drinks and dinner.

Have a great holiday kids...wish I were there.
jerry
Don't drive on the sidewalks

Dont "buy" in to the thought that you MUST buy something tomorrow especially in your pajamas at WalMart Geez...........go to the beach with your friends instead, you will be a much more advanced person. You dont really need that stuff!
