So I was hired by Fantasy Caravans to host their 16 rigs that came to visit this week, we are having a blast. They are also generous and we have started a new program because of them here is a link to an article that rp360 wrote about our adventure this week and a link to an article written in Sonoyta (Spanish only)

Heading back on Monday, I think we saw this caravan. They had a police escort through Sonoita, which we thought was a little unusual, but probably not a bad idea for a bunch of newbies trying to stay together and make their way through town. Some very nice RV's, by the way!

Yeah we met at 10:30 at the border and made our way through customs pretty quick we were probably on the road around 11:00 or 11:15

The whole idea of the escort was to get out of town without creating too much of a traffic back up.

Did they check them for that dreaded American dog food smuggling?

Not only did customs pass us through quickly (no dog food was taken) but when we got to the military checkpoint just outside of Peñasco they didn't make any of us stop the waved us through in one piece. It was an awesome experience and soon to be repeated

Russ, keep them rolling in :) I understand that the RV groups can be a fairly close knit community so hopefully they will spread the word about what a great place Penasco is and how easy it is to get to.

This is exactly what Roberto was talking about in a post about a month ago. Bringing in high-end RV'ers.

This tour this year is 2 years in the making. Naomi and I have been going to conventions of RVers for the last 3 years. Last year we had 106 rvers for the season, this year will surpass that. Roberto is right. We need people who are hungry for adventure and not satisfied with the status quo. This group has been amazing so far and I have no reason to believe that we wont have many more coming!

Well I am suggesting that not only the newbies, but some effort to get the old timers with rigs stored here back into the habit of visiting regularly. The storage lots are jammed with units. The storage business have a way to contact them. Tourism could put together a special offer package of incentives to e-mail all the owners of these stored units. It would cost virtually nothing, would help out everyone and I believe have a long lasting effect in getting some of those old timers visiting regularly. They are paying every month and using very little and I bet would be happy to visit more, just have to get the old inertia overcome.
