Just found this on youtube, pretty cool.

Unbelievable find! What year do you think most of this is? Late 40's, early 50's?
Estero
Has to be that time frame with the pics of the cars, the sailfish and totuava.

I have a copy of an Arizona Highways Magazine, April 1952. This is the photo on the cover...a boat full of sailfish!

The picture of the guy at the 0.54 mark reminds me of the photo of Bernard Gillespie on the cover of the book, Gillespie's Gold.

Does anyone have the lyrics to the background song? Me español es muy malo, but I did manage to pick up that he was singing about Peñasco.

I just got around to watching this... Brought tears to my eyes. I wish someone could translate it for the non Spanish speakers. It's beautiful....I could try but it would take me 2 days....

Kea asked about the lyrics. I wanted them also, so I posted on Craigslist and this was what I got:
"It is a nice song, some parts I could not make out very well, but I did my best. I was looking for some Rocky point info and came accross your posting. Enjoy..."

Tirandon la nota al viento
En un Puerto calló
De roca de mar desierto
Cautiva, se enamoró
Pezcadoras le dieron vida
Totoaba grande, Cortez le dió
Y cuando la marea baja,
La peninsula miro yo (x2)
Puerto Viejo de mis amores
Casa de piedra, aguis y alcapon
Mi malecon, los fundadores
Y en la explanada corri yo
Descalzo, mojado y quemado
Ayy como extraño nuestros paseos
Baya la cholla de Don Tarin
Y el pitido, irrechinido
Fieles aceros, ferrocarril
Rosado y azul, tu orlo
Pangueros y barcos lo pezcan
Peñaso, turismo, tus conchas de arena
Me embriagas con tu atardecer dorado
La nota no concluye aquí, Peñasco
Te quedas en mi corazón
Esperanza de mi porvenir
Te quedas en mi corazón
Peñasco Puerto de mi porvenir

from SpanishDict translator...

Tirandon the note to the wind
In a Port callus
Rock desert sea
Captive, he fell in love with
Pezcadoras gave it life
Totoaba large, Cortez gave
And when the tide is low,
I looked at the peninsula (x2)
Old port of my loves
Stone House, aguis and Al Capone
My jetty, the founders
And on the esplanade ran i
Barefoot, wet and burned
Ayy how strange our walks
The cholla Berry Don Tarin
And the beep, irrechinido
Faithful steels, rail
Desierto de Altar dear,
Your jewelry in camillete, so majestuso and imposing
Dazzles volcano El Pinacate
Piece of moon, which is the elegant
Clothing of yesteryear and teo important
The dunes, fascinating place
Peñasco Puerto Mio
With your black winds, streams of sand (x2)
Pink and blue, your orlo
Pangueros and boats pezcan
Penaso, tourism, your shells of sand
I embriagas with your golden sunset
The note does not end here, Peñasco
You stay in my heart
Hope my future
You stay in my heart
Peñasco port of my future
Kea
Thanks for both the Spanish and English versions. Now, I'll need to listen to it again while reading the lyrics.
