This "huge" festival has suddenly had its legs cut out. It went from 4 days of music with 24 artists and 3 comedians to 2 days of music with no new additions to the line-up. Pricing for the VIP packages went from $1,800.00 to a $500.00.

Dave Mason is booked at Harrah's in Laughlin on Saturday October 11th so I doubt you'll be seeing him. He is scheduled to be at BF on the 9th but now that's their golf day!

Ran across this. One day event in Cobb, CA on 8/16 with a lot of the same names, all playing on the same day, with ticket prices the average person could afford ($39 - $52). Looks like a fun time and it really happened!

1972 we hired Styxx to play at the SDS Counter Orientation at the Purdue band shell.....had to pay a guy named Dennis the 900 dollar fee in advance.....my bet is they still get payed up front so this thing will happen in some form...

Interesting event. The 3 day general pass is only $175 and there is a huge line up of music, comedy, arts, theater.........list goes on.

Feel bad for all the local people that either supported them by getting government approvals, permits, etc and any vendors that were gearing up for the event.

The people that made nonrefundable deposits of condos and houses hopefully still go to Rocky Point and enjoy the weekend.

Not a naysayer here, just someone with a little common sense. It was a shoe in that their over the top and stupid expensive tent ideas and such wouldn't happen, that's why I just stopped posting about it.

Same deal with the Thunder on the Beach and their over the top crap. After I pointed out I knew that some of the drivers on their first poster were racing with top sanctioning body's and there wasn't a snow ball chance in hell they would be there, they just changed the poster with pictures of cars in positions so you couldn't read the numbers. LOL

What the hell is so hard about coming up with something like most festivals do nowadays and grow it. When I went to the DeadWood Jam in 98 we brought chairs and blankets and I think it was free! look at it now....http://www.deadwood.com/events/deadwoodjam/
Edit- Oh, and Jefferson Starship were the headliners in 98.

Most likely he had to put some money down for the bands.I know a guy in Los Lobos and they have an initial 5 k deposit that you lose

Seems to me their website said no refunds and I'll bet that's what will happen. They'll make sure there isn't any money to get if anybody challenges them.

It wasn't going to happen and never will happen. It was so obvious from day one. I only wish PP can scrutinize this kind of crap more closely in the future and realize they are not ready for such grandiose events such as this BS bamboozle. This ass was just playing with the gullible people. Another black eye I just was afraid was coming.

Anyone that paid money for this should dispute it with their credit card company asap... The reality is the biggest concert RP can support is a Circus Mexicus type show/weekend. That weekend alone sells out all the condos and most of the other rentals.

Thats why they were trying the glamping fiasco. And all the other accommodations they were trying to sell us on,
Said it from the beginning, same as you about the CM.
They had trouble crossing and they are not even as big as BF claims to have been.
I really hope everyone that actually bought tickets gets a full refund.
It would be great if Roger and his crew still shows up and saves the day.

The BF for Penasco was sketchy at best, poorly organized, poorly advertised, insanely priced and because of this it never gained much traction.
Now let's see what happens with the Cruise Port fiasco since it is exhibiting similar traits. :rolleyes:

Much like the cruise ship port few people wanted to deal with the harsh reality that Boomer Fest Days was never going to work. The never announced a headliner and there was no need for anyone to come to a foreign country and pay insane prices to see acts that they could see at their local casino, state fair or bingo hall for the cost of dinner at Boston Market. Simply put, there was no draw! With the cruise ship port, we have the same thing. Ships already sail to Ensenada and all of the Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles and San Diego. There is ZERO need for a homeport in Rocky Point. Cruise lines sell excursions and there is nothing on the Sea of Cortez able to accommodate thousands of tourists looking for entertainment options during their port of call. Cruises for Mexican nationals sailed out of Mazatlán for years and were not successful. This is simply another unnecessary project (like our much hyped airport) utilizing not so clever misdirection so that the politicians and local bigwigs can once again fleece the citizens of their money.

I guess they were trying to get money from ticket sales first then they would prepare the site and do everything. This shows there was no money to begin with. Some people will get burned because I bet any tickets that sold paid expenses. I would like to know how many tickets were actually sold.

That's it. That is the answer that nobody thought of until now. There was nothing to draw people in and it was too high. When I saw the lineup I thought the same thing. These were B, C, and D-list performers at best. Certainly not 500.00 tickets and 1000.00 camping type stuff.

I really wish they would have pulled it off. It seems like it went out with a wimper instead of a bang. The BFD folks were hyping this up until the last minute on Facebook. I was skeptical from the start but I really did want them to pull it off. They made it so easy to not believe. I would have loved to have heard "they've got crews building stages and running electricity, trucks are showing up - etc.." I guess I'll just get drunk that weekend anyway.

The whole sequence of events around this, pretty much from day 1, made no sense. I still wonder what they were really up to as from all appearances no one could be so dumb as to do what they did, or did not do.

just did a quick search on all the acts that were supposedly booked. All but a few still have the date listed on their websites.

Mickey Thomas who sang this song, the only hit song that Elvin Bishop ever had, was the co-lead singer of the"Starship" but appeared without Grace often. He was by himself with the band when I saw them in Deadwood.

OK due to angry crowds demanding a Boomer event There will be a Love In on the Malecon in November. Theme song "When you go to Puerto Penasco be sure to wear a flower in your hair". Reach out in the darkness and have a great time. Period attire will be required with a contest for the most original so be sure to not bathe a week or so before the event. Tie died clothing will be available for sale. Holders of Boomer Fest tickets will be gifted with a free T shirt. We are planning a giant doobie contest but need to look into the legalities. We plan on a James Brown look alike contest too. Skin heads will be required to wear a wig. Be sure to make it as you will meet a lot of gentel people there.

I was looking into getting my 500 dollar VIP ticket refund issue resolved and found this Cracked me up....
"Today it was officially announced that the three day festival will be held between the uncompleted Marriot Hotel and Wrecked at the reef. With at least 24 internationally renowned music and comedy artists appearing over three days, it is going to be one of the greatest events ever to be held in Mexico.
