Just found this morning that I need a new LP water heater. The burner is kaput. Any suggestions as to best place to purchase a new one, preferably with a push button pilot lighter? I'm tired of the match method.

Bought one at Coloniales this morning only to find it was an electric one when I got it home. They sent out a gas one for exchange but it didnt have an ignitor like they told me it would have. Now I'll have to go back to town to see if I can find one. Good Grief.

I was just in Electra ( off Benito Juarez next to tel cel towers) and they have both tank type and wall mount tankless demand heaters using LP, Cost under 3,000 pesos. Tank was small, maybe only 20 gallons. I saw the tankless ones at Coppel some time ago.

No luck in town. Wasted my afternoon. I'll have to wait for Coloniales to get one but it won't be until after I leave on Monday, or maybe manana now with no agua caliente.....

Good folks and some speak English.
We bought a refrigerator there Nov of 2011 and when we came back a couple of weeks back it did not work.
We went to the store and they had a man at our place in an hour. He found a bad fan, went back to the store ad ordered it.
2 days later he was back and replaced it at no charge. Try to find that kind of great service any where else.

Muebles Coloniales got one to the casa yesterday morning. All good and running now.

Highly recommend tankless water heaters

I agree. I had an electric tankless water heater, programmable thermostat, and A/C door sensors installed in my Sonoran Sun condo by Kelp Inc. and it has made a huge difference in my electric bill. My bill for 2 months during the hottest part of the year was $1400 Pesos (about $110 Dollars).

tankless water heaters are not holding up well in Encanto. everyone out there that has one that I have talked to is not happy with them. too many issues with calcium buildup.

The tankless water heaters need to be cleaned periodically and they last a long time.
By the way, what you need is a cold water heater, if you have hot water you don't need to heat it

Jim, how much did Kelp charge for the AC door sensors?
Jim
I think it was $350 for that part. Well worth it in my opinion. Although, the small sign that they put up was not very effective. I kept having maintenance calls when renters said that the A/C didn't work (obviously they tried to run it with the door open) so I had a magnetic sign made and stuck it on the fridge. No more calls.

dm, how do you clean and maintain them? Mine is new so it works great but if I can maintain it so it lasts longer, I'd be glad to know how. Thx.

Some people our here have installed this. It saves on cold water running down the drain waiting for the hot water.

How many rentals during this 2 month period? They were running kind of high this year (rentals).

Tankless water heaters require periodic flushing/cleaning to remove lime scale from the pipes.

Actually in Mexico, it's best to ask for a "boiler", so I found out!

The pump can be used when you have installed the double cleaning valves under the unit. I have this setup and would happily lend this to any member of this forum. I suggest using straight vinegar solution as it is less harsh on the copper. If you want to borrow it let me know in advance and I will bring it down. Please do not be offended by my asking a 100% refundable deposit. Just to help keep the honest folks honest.
