Speaking of change... We used to hear from people and often who had made a stop on Rodeo Drive part of their PP experience, but that for the most part was before the modernization of the shops, paving and street lights. I can't even remember the last time it was even mentioned on here.
When we changed out some of the furniture in our condo we had Jill's Consign & Design (on Fremont) pick it up. We have quite a bit of $$ on the books that we can either take back in cash or use in her store. We plan on taking $200-$300 of that and going on a shopping spree on Rodeo Drive for decorations for our patio/balcony.
We (and many others I am sure) used to call it Dirt Mall.
IMHO, I think it lost some of its charm when they remodeled.
You throw that word "charm" around loosely?? But yes, I agree, it isn't quite the same as it use to be. Beach girl and I were there in the midle of March and there weren't a whole lot of "patrons" there. I do enjoy the shade. I sure hope it doesn't fall by the wayside. I would sure hate to see that happen.
Old geezer? Really, dawg! Rob, I'll take you when I am there. If you want to go for wourself, going north on Benito, take a left in front of the bus station and go about a mile. It starts as soon as you cross the railroad tracks.

Is the sign still up? The one that says cholla bay 7 miles or so!
There is a sign for it on the new Sandy Beach route. If you're coming from the resorts it's right after that random housing complex and the overhead sign welcoming you to Sandy Beach.
Going to the "Dirt Mall" is something we do every time we go to RP. Not that there is anything we have to have we do enjoy meeting the locals, practicing my very bad Spanish, and perhaps getting something that is "almost free!" ;)
