Some old friends and I are thinking of coming down to spend a week at PP later this year. We're coming from various parts of the US, so we were hoping we could just fly into PP through AeroMexico, but it doesn't seem like any flights are running now...?
Do you have any recommendations for traveling to PP? Our only other ideas are to find a small commuter airline or gather in Phoenix and drive together from there.
When we have guests, they fly into Phoenix and take a shuttle down (Let's Go Rocky Point) or fly to Tucson and rent a car. Four hours drive either way. Depends on if you want a car while you're here.
Although the new airport is nice (I've flown into privately), there really isn't anything direct from the US to it. There was talk of a direct flight from Vegas to Penasco, but I don't know that it ever became a reality. The only flights I'm aware of that come into Penasco originate from within Mexico. I think there is one that flies from Hermosillo to Penasco, so you'd have to fly there first, then back up to Penasco. Also, I don't know how often that flight is made. Not even sure that it's daily.
Advice given above is best - Fly into Phoenix within the US, book a van to take you, or rent a car and go down on your own (if you're up for that). Happy adventuring! :D

I'm 99.9 % sure there are in fact NO regularly scheduled flights into Penasco from anywhere in Mexico or the US or anywhere else.
Charters have flown in from Mexico loaded with vacationing tourists last year. Have heard nothing this year.

Just FYI, you can rent a car, mini van or full size van here if you want to make some day trips. Mas o minus $40 for 24 hours for a compact, no idea how much the vans but you can call. They might give you a break for a weekly rental. Bufalo Car rental. 638-888-9999
