Bring Food across the border

I think it's insane that the USA charges a parking fee at a hotel, a resort fee if they have a gym, an internet fee for wifi, and sometimes a booking fee. But those are the rules and if I don't pay them, I don't get a room. I too rent from private owners sometimes and don't pay all the fees, but I know that I can't use the pool or other amenities. It is what it is.

On Friday I was stopped by SAGARPA at the border and issued a "warning" which is called an AVISO PREVENTIVO SANITARIO. They recorded my driver's license, the date, and my offense. My offense was bringing approximately 1.36 Kg. of potatoes (6 russet potatoes) across the border which is noted on my written warning. I was allowed to bring them "just this once" but told that absolutely no fruit, vegetables, or meat could be imported into Rocky Point. I think I'll frame this warning as probably the funniest law that I've ever broken.
