The Second Fishing Tournament Puerto Lobos 2017 organized this weekend by the municipal government that presides over the mayor Karina García Gutiérrez exceeded all expectations, both in attendance of visitors, as in participation of fishermen and even in the size of the huge fish winner of the first place.

Before hundreds of families gathered in Playa Blanca, the municipal president congratulated the officials involved in the organization of the fishing tournament and the members of the Marine Paradise Committee for the event "Caborca en Lobos".

He assured that the success is the result of the coordinated efforts of the community and the Government to promote our most beautiful beach destination.

He also thanked cyclists, motorcyclists and owners of razors and 4x4 vehicles for enriching the activities and the Fisheries Secretariat, especially Jesús Loya Córdova, for sanctioning the validity of the tournament in which 82 fishing lovers from different cities of the region participated. states of Baja California, Arizona and Sonora.

The municipal tourism coordinator, Martín Ramírez Plazola, before announcing the 10 best places of the tournament, thanked the companies sponsoring the prizes in cash and in kind that were delivered to the largest catches.

In this way the great winner, with the capture of a 43 kilogram berry with 390 grams and a cash prize of one thousand dollars was Mr. Arturo Arellano Medina, a resident of Puerto Libertad and retired from the CFE thermoelectric plant.

The second place and prize of 600 dollars went to Dennis Dermyer, of the neighboring American state of Arizona, for his berry of 9,460 kilograms; while the third place with prize of 300 dollars was for the cabanquence Alán Baranzini, for the capture of a berry that threw a weight of 8,890 kilograms.

Dennis told me he took 2nd in this. Good job! Also said the place was completely overrun like Semana Santa weekend, beach was a madhouse. There goes another sleepy little fishing village.

We were there the Monday after the tournament. Didn't see another boat on the water other than the shrimp trawlers obliterating the flounder
