Last night I went down the hill to watch "real" race cars. I'm not sure I'd drive around the corner to watch NASCRAP nowadays. These cars have 410 cu, with 850+ ponies. They weigh only about 1300lbs, have straight drive right off the engine, and no mirrors! By the way this is where Tony, Jeff, Kasey, Ryan, Kenny, and many more came from. Sorry, the embedded link is disabled. By the way, Jerry Coon's Jr is from Tucson, and is a better racer than most of the guy's that are driving the door bangers. He's also only one of 4 who's won USAC'S triple Crown (all three divisions) in the 50+ years of it's existence. OK, the 4th guy to win the Triple Crown was Dave Darland from Indiana, and I'll put up right below this responce a little ride he took right in front of us at the Western a few years ago . I was looking right in the cockpit at him as he was flying by.

I met Jerry once when he was racing a midget I think it was the same night Princess Di was taken from us. Remember leaving TRP and hearing the news. Anyway I like most sports and try to keep up

He's still driving in all three divisions, and is second in the national point standings for all of them as of today....http://www.usacracing.com/CircleTrack.php I don't know how well it will come in down there, but USAC had been streaming live telecasts of a lot of their race's. Click on USAC live in the right hand corner. They are not always listed, but it looks like they might have one tonight. I think there back in Indiana right now, so that's Eastern time.
