New Airport

Does anyone have any current information on whether or not any commercial carriers are going to start offering flights from the US to the new airport in Rocky Point?

This seems to be up to date..http://www.puerto-penasco.com/airline.html
Maybe this?... "spoke with Westwind's Gayle Lurenz, hoping to get a little more information on Westwind, their flights, and their plans for the future."

Question: So, if I'm Joe Vacationer from Minnesota who wants to fly into Phoenix and eventually end up in Penasco, what do I do?
A: Anyone wanting these flights can book their reservation via our toll free number, 1-888-869-0866 or via our website at www.westwindairservice.com. See question #4 for some critical details. We will require full names, address, contact phone number, weight, passport number or certified birth certificate number of each passenger. Approximate amount (weight) of luggage and a credit card to hold the reservation. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance of the flight and there is a 48 hour cancellation policy.

Thank you for your response but that info does not appear to be current and seems to be referring to the old airport. The link mentions plans for a future "commercial sized" airport and the posts that follow are dated 2005. Does anyone have any more recent news? I previously read something about negotiations with US carriers to begin flights to the new airport as early as January and I was wondering if there were any updates.

My guess is that they will wait a little longer to see what will happen with the economy, right now it seems that even the people driving are going to to stay home (in USA), and PP is not a destination that people will pay a flight fare of $500+ per person for a round trip from Phoenix or Tucson for a Friday to Sunday weekend, in the other hand those people that would like to travel for the weekend still have a choice and take RockyPointRides.com and make it safe to PP and back from Tucson!!

Tell me more about this RockyPointRides.com. How does it work? Is it safe? Are the drivers careful? Do they serve refreshments on the trip, like the airlines? Isn't there also a nice apartment there in the Mirador they could rent for only $150 a month after taking the van down?

Tell me more about this RockyPointRides.com.
It is a new shuttle service that started back in Oct of 2009 to fill a need for a round trip service supplier from Tucson to Rocky Point
How does it work?
At this point in time we are basically taking reservations as they come, in other words, since we are not booked for every day of the weeks we only are going down to RP when reservations are made and we are door to door service
Is it safe?
It is safe as we do not drive or take any routes that will jeopardize my passengers or myself and respect all driving regulations.
Are the drivers careful?
At this time I am the only driver/owner and I adhere to all safety regulation mandated by the USDOT and ADOT, as we grow and more drivers will be needed then they will go thru the checks required by both USDOT and ADOT
Do they serve refreshments on the trip, like the airlines?
We do offer water and snacks to our passenger, we have one stop at the Hassan Casino at Why, their bathrooms are the cleanest in the area, where passengers can go to the lou, and purchase snacks if their preference is different to what be have.
Isn't there also a nice apartment there in the Mirador they could rent for only $150 a month after taking the van down?
Not only is there an apartment available in the Mirador area for $150/mth, but there are many other room arrangements that can be done at the many hotels/condos/rental homes around the Mirador area but also be cater to all of town as well as the Mayan Palace at no extra charge.
So for all of you that would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact us, thru a PM or at our e-mail address at [email protected]
