Oxygen at the Border?

We'll soon be crossing the border with my Mom and her oxygen tank since she uses it 24/7. Will we have an issue getting it across if we get the red light? Should it be declared in any way? Thanks in advance for your input. (Sorry if this a duplicate post.)

My thought is .........if it is a medical oxy tank and she can prove she needs it it will not be an issue. I see this situation a lot and I have never heard of any problems.

My brother has come twice with his home dialysis machine and everything that goes along with it. Big suspicious looking case plus boxes of saline, etc. and they didn't have a problem with it. He did have a letter from the doctor on official stationary.
