I've been lucky enough, so far, as to not need either of those however a tooth extraction runs around $30.00, (Chuck's recommendation Dr. Hernandez 011-526-383-4338) but that was the quote they give me over the phone, unfortunatelly I could not wait any longer and had it done here in Tucson for $250.00!!! OUCH!!!! :eek3:

PS: the dentist told me to look for them at the corner of "Pink Cadillac" next to the taco stand, they are there usually around 3 a.m.    (the PS is a joke)

I have been having most of my dental work done in Mexico for about 30 years at a fraction of US prices. The quality of work has always been good, and Mexican dentists seem to take more precautions against pain than their Norte Americano counterparts. I used one dentist in Puerto Peñasco almost exclusively for several years. When my wife got dental insurance that would pay for Mexican dentistry, I noticed that his prices went up appreciably. I have been having my dental work done in Los Algodones the last few years. There are a lot of good dentists in Los Algodones competing for Norte Americano dollars. Unless it's a major project, you can usually walk in off of the street without an appointment and be done the same day. Sometimes when a temporary and permanent crown are needed, you might have to stay overnight or come back another day. I've gone in the morning, had a root canal and temporary. I've returned in the afternoon and the permanent corona was done, and the paperwork filled out for my insurance. They are always happy to give you a firm price before they begin. You can find out more about dentistry in Los Algodones by typing in "Dentist, Los Algodones" to your search engine. If you have dental insurance, you might want to find out if they will pay for Mexican dentistry. Before we had insurance that would cover Mexican dentistry, the prices were usually less than the copay for having the same work done in the US.

:D I haven't had a root canal in Penasco but I have had three crowns done by Dr. Socorro. The price two years ago was $210. I had a dentist friend in Missouri look at them and he said the work was first rate.

I recommend Dr. Arturo Yamamoto for general dentistry. He is very thorough and very gentle. If you require gum surgery or a root canal, he has very competent contract specialists on hand.

For implants, crowns, and bridges, I don't think you can find better talent than Dr. Joaquin Hernandez. He is very fast and doesn't mess around.

Dr. Hernandez office is located on the left side on the road as you are heading for Old Port, directly across from the shrimp boat docks (Muele). He has a big sign with a tooth "Implants". Implants are his recent specialty, but he is skilled in and has a lot of experience in most dental procedures.

I've had work done by Dr. Angela Tice Acuna (Rocky Smiles)....just off Fremont a couple of blocks past the Pemex towards Los Conchas. I've even taken my mom down to have work done. She has her own lab in the same building (her home/offices/lab).

I had a crown down by the dentist that's located on the street parallel to the street that La Curva is on (just behind it towards the beach. Can't remember his name, but the crown cost me $65 (silver)...done the same day....and that was about 12 years ago. His equipment wasn't the most modern but the work was ok.

I saw online that root canals are going between $275 & $300 in Nogales and a very good crown
is $400. Never got a price in penasco. Rather go down and walk on the beach. If any one can supply a vonage # for the dentist I would be very greatful. I would call the guards at Las Conchas
but they are on Strike.

Dr Hernandez has a great reputation- Rolando( around the corner from La Curva) not real bad if you're on a budget, but be wary of Angela Acuna, my wife had some bad experience with her and couldn't get her to back her work. There is also a dentist next to Salmos who is supposed to be really great.
