Thanksgiving - no roll call

I think we’re a few months from turning the corner. The Pfizer vaccine (I’m in their clinical trial) is almost certain to get a well deserved emergency use authorization when the panel meets on December 10, and then it will be shots in the arm for 12 million Americans before the end of the year. By spring break 2021 70 or 80 million Americans will have completed the two dose regimen of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. I’m less excited about the Astra Zeneca results, but their data were really preliminary. If the Johnson and Johnson vaccine works out according to plan there will be a single dose vaccine available, which will help with less compliant populations. Mexico will regrettably continue to suffer long after Americans are widely vaccinated, but at least we will be able to support the economy down here without risking the spread of infections coming from the US. Peñasco might be looking at Fall before vaccination is widely available.

There are Americans in town. Not crowded, but some. Max’s was half full this morning, and most people shopping in Super Ley at 10 were gringos.

please keep us posted as to your participation in this vaccine trial, the results seem to be very positive, and we look forward to your honest and actual personal experiences. Thank you for participating, for all of us.

You’re welcome.

I don’t expect much to happen until shortly after the review committee meets December 10. When the Pfizer vaccine gets its EUA, probably around December 12 I should be notified whether I’m in the vaccine or placebo group and hopefully offered the vaccine if the latter.
