Cholla Bay 4 Life
For all essential purposes, Cholla Bay is my home away from home in RP and JJ's will forever be in my <3

I can remember seeing their bumper stickers as far back as 20 years ago... long before I even started coming to PP.
In the last 10 years, always make it a point to stop in for a cold XX and a fish taco.

Like Manny's, it's a place we all like to think will last forever come hell or high water. Well it might withstand the high water, but 50+ years of watching what's called progress in PP and Cholla, it very well could be on borrowed time.
There's a difference between Manny's and JJ's Kenny. They got rid of the attractions ( trailerparks) at the Mirador and made places to stay with better sandy beaches, But JJ's has the local people to keep it alive. I don't think we'll ever see the pre- passport crowds again tho' so the income will be less.
JJ's never depended on Roger Clyne for an income and there ARE other venues.

Regarding a sale, question is what was sold. Often it is just the business, not the realestate, that is sold. Usually goes with a long term lease. I met a man, not Roger, who told me he was buying the Hut.

Who's knows how much money exchanged hands, more likely get me out of this lease...Hey Roberto last time I stopped by to talk about who you have been pulling out of the sand the previous week I did notice that the Black Dog has Resurrected again. Your thoughts!

Never thought or said they were the same or that JJ's depended on Roger, only that they are both landmarks and you can't tell me that JJ's, even with the "local" support hasn't been struggling to some degree. Remember it was the “El Club de Pesca La Cholla” before 84, and of course there's always this thing called progress that doesn't give a shit about landmarks or old farts in Cholla who hang out at JJ's.

P. S. LOL Joe is not a old fart, but JJ's is not his first choice in hang outs anyway. Ha, beat ya to it.:)

The land was never truly owned by Larry when it was Changos nor was it owned by Randy when it was the Hut. Just the lease and the business entity was all that was sold. Randy has several financial partners and my understanding of this recent sale is that a group led by Roger's father-in-law is also made up of several investors, I am told that Roger's participation is mostly name value. Just what I heard, you never know exactly how much truth there is to any statement you hear down here.

No importa a mi. Black Dog was never a place of interest to me. There are at least 5 of the joints open so you know none of them can be doing well. Have you visited any Dog? I wonder if anyone form the forum has ever visited one of the 'casinos'? Not a tourist activity I think.

I have never been in one in RP, I would rather spend my money buying things from the gift stores down there. Heck I think I have been in the casinos in az maybe 3 times.

I love JJ"s but I think Wrecked and The Clyne place will not help the low turn outs JJ's is having. As a local of CB we see it on most weekends that Fri. and Sat. nights are not real busy, while the Wrecked is pretty much. Make sure you stop in and have a few...At least all the bars are close....

JJ's does well durning the day. Unfortunately they don't have anything to attract people in the evening unless it's a sporting event

We stopped in and had a bite and brews while enjoying the view of all the families on the beach. Not a fancy place but I can see becoming a regular there. Great value compared to Wrecked.

No, JJ's is not fancy at all. It has been in Cholla for decades. It does however; have a great staff, great views and reasonable prices. One of my favorite places.
