Things continue to unravel in Baja California Sur despite the presences of additional Federal Police. Between noon Monday and noon Tuesday nine executions took place in La Paz and three more in San Jose Del Cabo. Wednesday the Los Cabos Hotelier's Association announced $12 million in cancellations for security fears. BCS now is 2nd in Mexico for homicides per capita.

- Violence in Baja California Sur is not forever, promises Government

The Secretary General of the Government of the State, Alvaro de la Peña Angulo, said that the violence in Baja California Sur "is not forever," and that, with the work being done together with the Armed Forces and Federal Police, the levels of insecurity that have been experienced in recent months in the middle peninsula, will go down.

"I want tell all our people that this issue is not forever, we are facing it, and not alone, we are with the Army, with the Navy, with the Federal Police and this is going to have to yield, it is going to go down. There are peaks, as in the whole country, but we can not surrender to criminals. "

The head of the General Secretariat of the State said that criminal groups operate at the national level, so if something happens in other states, it has repercussions in Baja California Sur. He also commented that the work that has to be done is: to remove the largest number of weapons from the streets.

"We are working on the containment, because the wave of violence is not exclusive in Baja California Sur. Unfortunately, I have to say that these criminal groups operate throughout the national territory, and what happen in Sinaloa, in other neighboring states, also has repercussions here", he said.

This wave of violence has left at least 100 dead in October.

West Phoenix is the new Chicago. Only a small percentage of the assaults, burglaries, shootings and robberies are reported. What is reported is the continual deaths that make the news. Not sure how society devolved so far. I grew up in West Phoenix and never heard much of any crime happening [many years ago].
